OS Daily 4th April 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4th April 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Well as I didn't get to post yesterday, I have *slept* since my last post
Good morning all:D

Didn't get on here until much too late to post yesterday.

DH 's foot was worse, he couldn't bear any weight on it at all. I ferried him to the Doc's and to cut a long story short, he's got broken bones!!! Yes, I feel ashamed:o I had suggested he was malingering.:o I was VERY patient during our 6 hours at A &E !!! :D I do regret one or two of my worst comments to DH:o It will be some weeks before the bones heal. But even he admits the doctor said there isn't much point in resting the foot. He's still trying to milk it:rolleyes:

DH3 is still costing me money, even after he's moved out. Couldn't afford his car insurance, so softie that I (we) am I've advanced him, and he will repay it monthly:rolleyes: I know you never stop worrying about your kids, no matter how old, but I live for the day they get off the payroll:rotfl:

OS? Yep, I've just programmed the BM to deliver bread in the morning:D

Other than that, forget it:rotfl: If I reappear before midday, I'll count it a triumph:D

From my quick whip-through of yesterday's thread.....

mrs-mix, I was so surprised it had been that long with the lorry off the road. So pleased the end is nigh:D

Aussie, loving the piccies, keep them coming. While you're posting those, you're leaving me alone:D

((smoky))

((hugs)) to anyone else who needs one.

CM xx

    Morning :D

DD2 and I fell asleep on settee .. she woke up to go to the toilet at about midnight and wanted to go in my bed ... I let her (but fell back to sleep on settee  ) and she wet herself. I put her back in her bed and she's wet herself :( Hope it's not all the changes going on that's upsetting her and that's why she's bed wetting again. Normally I just pop her on her on the toilet before I got to sleep and that's it now.

So basically I'm shattered and can't get back to sleep :p OS wise ... was on top of washing until tonight :rotfl: , I've got some more mince to use up so will cook that tonight and freeze cos we've got mince coming out of our ears at the mo :rotfl: Dinner tonight will prob be tuna pasta bake padded out with loads of veg ... I'm going to hoover and have a quick go at bathroom before I go to work cos LL is coming round with EA while I'm at work  (not happy about that al all).

I'm going back to my settee to try and get another hour .. u never know.

(((HUGS))) to those who want/need them. Luv xx

Good morning both. Another early bird here.

Been awake since 2am with my youngest, who is still awake and showing no signs of letting me sleep or being able to rest himself so if he lets me I'm going to do some cleaning up.

The builder is coming at 8. We've had a fence put up, he's going to replace our rotten guttering and we're having a wall knocked down to give us some more room, and a cupboard knocked into the chimney breast in the bathroom to give us storage space there.

Nope - he's crying again. I better go.

Edit: okay, he's finally asleep on the couch. (For now.)

Breakfast is cereal with dried figs and apricots
Lunch will be an end of holiday treat with the children somewhere 'out'. (We have a big day planned, fortunately not involving driving since I've only had a couple of hours sleep!)

Dinner will be 3 bean chilli for us and the same for the boys without the spices (IF DS2 will eat it. Things not great on that front. He should be seeing a specialist any day now as he's having some eating problems but the 'chilli' is packed full of iron and protein and is dairy and gluten free so fingers crossed he'll manage some of it.)

Also cooked some poy lentils yesterday so will make a bolognaise to heat up tomorrow for dinner and if I get the chance I want to throw some red lentils and veg in the slow cooker to make some soup so that I can have an easier day tomorrow.

Edit again: oh dear, I'm flagging a bit. It's going to be a LONG day!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

    Good morning, you early risers!

CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello: your poor DH, and you, now having to feel bad about thinking he was swinging the lead!

JET and GINGHAM - from someone who had the toddler from hell in DS2 (now 26 years old), they do grow up! Mine ensured that I didn't get an unbroken night's sleep until he was four and a half years old. I hope you both get more sleep, at the right time, tonight.

Well, I woke up at just gone 3am and tried to get back to sleep but, in the end, just gave up and got up. I shall be flagging by breakfast. I actually like early mornings because it gives me time on here without being interrupted or feeling guilty for not doing something more constructive. I've had one cup of tea and one cup of coffee so far; I'll probably need extra doses of caffeine today just to stay awake!

Well, catch up with you later.

Can i join the early morning club ?
I fell asleep on the sofa at around 8pm,whilst waiting to take my pain killers. Then woke up at 4.30am. Took my pain killers pretty quick, realised i was cold, nearly stood on the dog who was curled up infront of the sofa and oh did i mention that DS2 who is 12 was asleep on the other sofa ? Luckily he has an inset day today :)

Seems to be a theme developing with sofas and children ;)

Hugs to CMs H. (men usually milk a cold so i feel for you ;))

Jet77 Hows the job ? Sorry to hear you have lots of washing

GR Hope lo has calmed down and lets you catch 40 winks

Hi Choc.Orange - I have just posted on the 'squares' thread. Good luck with the tutorial - you'll be a pro before you know it!

I've just put the WM on and will now do my shopping list ready for the trip to the supermarket later on. I've spent far too long on the internet this morning. I've been looking at loads of craft sites and my head is spinning with things I want to make! There just aren't enough hours in the day or days in the week!

    See you later on.

Goodness, I thought I was early on here!! It's easy to forget these broken nights with little ones. My youngest stepson is 13 but my older 2 used to sleep well but were very early risers. No longer - at 23 and 21 they can sleep in like the best of them - especially my son who seems to have a charmed timetable at uni and has mostly afternoon lectures!
I've been awake since just after 5. Anyone else with a DH who snores? Mine usually snores the first half of the night but he excelled himself in being able to snore much longer last night.speechless-smiley-040.gif
Anyway - am here with a nice cup of milky coffee. Off to browse and get inspiration
    Have a good day everyone

Morning other early risers/late going to beders
Had 5 hours, what you betting next week when in the 'van can manage more:confused: . Whether darkness levels with blinds or what I don't know (we have blackout linings to our curtains. On that subject we have a shop in Donny called Warehouse Outlet who sell the loose fitting Blackout+Thermal Linings quite cheaply, I know someone was considering this, and it save getting new curtains and they will transfer when you do change.

Jet - fancy making my brain work at this time in the morning, eventually twigged that LL = Landlord and EA = Estate Agent:rolleyes:

Re the knitting tutorial, I saw on Freecycle once that some asked for spare wool, needles, and if there was anyone who would be kind enough to show them how to knit:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: well, if you dont ask! Someone yesterday asked for a Breadmaker and Yoghurt Maker - so looks like they have been reading MSE! 3 things on offer atm, and two already "claimed" awaiting collection and one just went on last night, what with that and a couple of trips to the dump, the car is now in the garage, so DH is happy:rolleyes: .

Pampering continuing today after hair yesterday (well the twinklies were showing so essential really) pedicure/manicure today, feet essential, manicure a treat.

(((hugs))) all round espeically (((Smoky))) and (((Martyn)))

Right - back to it, I think I am seeing some daylight now.

    Hello all.

I'm not really sure what to say so please bear with me. As it is, I feel as if I'm somewhere else looking down on me, if that makes any sense??

I had my first ever sleeping tablet last night. I don't know how they're supposed to work but I went to bed about 10.30 and was out like a light until 2.30 this morning. From then, I dozed on and off 'til 6.30. Wether that's right or not, it was probably the best night's sleep I've had in a long, long time.

I shall attempt to be OS tonight and have a bash at a potato and onion bake that one of my workmates has given me the recipe for. If it ends up pear-shaped, I've got plenty in the freezer to fall back on.

At the risk of becoming red-eyed again, thank you all for your kindness and advice last night.

    B****r, red-eyes again :o

    Thanks all.

And as an edit, I know there are some out there who are worse off than me. Being caught up with myself, it's easy to forget that, so my thoughts are with others who are down or not feeling too good.

    Morning.

Off to work shortly. Got my new chickens last night, so they are settling in. Very foggy this morning, but hopefully it will brighten up and turn into a nice day.
Long weekend off, Sat-Wed, although I agreed to work on Tuesday to do a specific job.
