Primus Option 2 ?

It's only free evening and weekend calls.
Any other time you pay for, but most of us switch to another provider for other calls.
Apart from when I first joined Primus my normal bill with them is less than 0.50p.
Half a pence, thought they had a min call charge on chargeable calls? :huh:It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Thanks Heinz.
Have just read through your detailed info on the other thread and I think the Sky one is the best for us, as we already have the free Sky broadband and TV, which there's no way we'd be giving up (sports fanatics in this household) and sounds a lot simpler than remembering to put different codes in first.
TBH we'd rarely make daytime calls as both of us are at work in the day, but just wondered how you swapped between the two, so very useful thank you :A
The Primus one would be just as simple if you didn't want to route calls elsewhere. The Sky one would be just as "complicated" (though it's not really complicated) if you did want to route elsewhere.
However it would be a little crazy not to go the Primus and 18185 route. I mean why pay 4p/min for daytime calls on BT or Sky or 3p/min on Primus when you can pay 5p per call. Why pay Sky high calls to mobile, when you can get them cheap.
I know some people like to be lazy, but surely not when it means paying high call costs, when you can get them down to next to nothing.
Whatever you do DON'T move line rental away from BT.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Hi BexTech,
I think BritBrat means his / her bill is less then 50p not 0.5p or half a penny!
50p per month is certainly a huge saving though, compared to our recent BT bill
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info regarding Primus folks.
Best Regards,
Leigh :beer:0 -

Yep, see my bills:

I wish it was all 50p but I also use 18185 and that can be £5.00+ and then BT line rental with two calls and that is £11 - £12. So total about £20 a month.
But it used to be £40 - £70.0 -

Thanks, but I'm still sticking with Sky as I'd never remember or bother (a heinous crime to admit to on here, I know) to put a prefix in front of a number at different times.
Can't honestly remember the last time I rang a mobile number - I just don't and we both work full time daytime, so we're not going to be ringing anyone during the day (from home, anyway:p ) so Sky is definitely my best option. Our phone bill is only about £2 a month anyway for calls as hubby has a great deal with 600 free minutes on his mobile for £15 a month.
Thanks for the help on here, tho as I also wouldn't have discovered that Sky have changed their packages. Apparently we're paying for 6!!! additional mixes with the sport. This goes back to when you had to have all the dross before you could even get sport or movies etc. Nice of them to tell us they'd changed. Basically we can now drop music, documentaries and the kids channels and make a further saving. So thanks, all.0 -
You could opt for Primus Saver 2 instead of Sky.
There's no prefixes for Primus, it would work exactly the same as Sky talk, except cheaper calls and 90 mins on each 'free' call instead of 60, plus daytime rate doesn't start until 08:00 instead of 06:00 for Sky.
So nothing to remember to prefix or dial. Just pick up the phone and dial the number as usual. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Yeah but I'm with Sky already, so wouldn't have to sign up for another direct debit etc. and I actually get a cheaper Sky package by having it all in one.
Wouldn't dare ring anyone between 06.00 - 08.00 :eek:0 -

Ah, you see to me it doesn't matter about different DDs. Plus Sky have set charges for TV, having phone service doesn't alter that price, having phone service doesn't give you cheaper broadband either.
However it's your choice, if you are happy to pay more for a lesser service, that's entirely your prerogative.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=770024Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
After seeing IPTW last night (recorded it) I didn't realise BT had changed their prices. They sent me my eBill the other day - and it doesn't even mention it on there, except to say that weekend calls are now free. I ended up having to download a 30 page PDF before I found out how much my evening calls are going to be.
I was so annoyed that I decided to sign up to Primus. If BT had been more upfront I'd have probably just changed to their Option 2 (or whatever it's called now).
But I tried ringing Primus this morning - I think the rest of the country has had the same idea! I gave up holding after 3/4 hour (at least it's a freephone number). I'm a Sky customer so I was checking out SkyTalk while holding. I realised there wasn't much in it for me and also decided the fiver a month free landline calls was worth it for me. So I signed up with them instead (online).0
