Molly, I LOVE the country kitchen look and I really hope you didn't paint the rocking chair. The dresser looks great!
Re: the frugal picnic. I have half a wholemeal hm loaf to slice for open sannies, have made up a jelly and split it into single servings in yoghurt pots, hm egg mayo with cress because I couldn't be bothered going outside to cut some chives, made up some frugal marie rose sauce and mixed in a tin of tuna chunks and have made some pasta salad using a tiny bit of cheese and a sliced frankfurter :rotfl: Total cost so far, about £1 for 4. I stuck a tin of corned beef in the fridge to do corned beef & tomato sannies as well, but that would double the cost, so that's pushing it too far just for a picnic. I'll save that to have with mashed potatoes and beans tomorrow night.
I didn't make any crisps because I though it would be cheaper buying them than heating the oven to bake or roast them. Even cheaper not buying them and doing without. I've refilled the little raisins box that DGD thought I had binned and have blackcurrent & apple cordial to dilute and put in washed out fruit shoot bottles.(Must remember to stock up with that on Tuesday, as I read somewhere it was going up in price! I think I pay about 19p per litre for it just now, from spring meadows.)
I forgot to say, I didn't win anything with the premium bonds, AGAIN!
Have a good bank holiday Monday everyone. I'll update the days/days remaining now so it's correct for tomorrow as I probably won't be online until after the frugal picnic. I just hope it isn't torrential rain or there'll be no animals to see except the ducks!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I'ts a lovely dresser as it is:D
Have you decided whether you are going to paint it yet? It works well with your table and rocking chair already:D0 -
Oh Nyk - I blame you that I need to go and eat something now
. I figured I had enough food for one and half so was able to avoid cooking this evening. I gave the one to DD and ate the half myself so I am starving at the moment. Lucky I got some rye Ryvita today so can go and eat some cheese (and roe (sp?) paste from Sweden) on Ryvita for late night snack. DD was sweet today, I gave her leftover veggie sausages for lunch to go with chips and just took plain chips for myself so she noticed it and shared her sausages with me. We did have a bit of a hair pulling competition (literally) wich ended that we both apologised and later she actually realised (fist time ever!!!) she had hurt my foot with her chair she apologised immediately and gave me a cuddle and kiss. So sometimes I think giving the same remedy back works. Was going to do a long post but falling asleep. I need a holiday as I am just getting more and more tired.
That dresser is wonderful!
Bails - if you need a distraction for tomorrow I have someone here who would love to oblidge. As it happens I will be driving past you as going to get some freecycle stuff.
I definitely will catch up tomorrow properly. Take care everybody.

I've decide to leave things as they are( save money on paint).I love the country kitchen look too and when I sit on my rocking chair and look out into my garden at the birds I can forget I'm in a council house and dream I'm in my country cottage lol

[quote=sophiesmum;10688471]What have you all got planned for tomorrow, anything??quote]
I am planning a day oput with my dd. She is just about to turn 16, so usually out with friend but today is having a day with meI am trying to decide if the sun is coming through. If it does we will probably go to St Andrews or Burntisland, if not it might be Glasgow.
Doing up the bathroom cabinets sounds ok as a 'spends day' Sophiesmum
Bails Are you looking at a caravan or a transit kind of van?
Mollypop the dresser is really pretty.
Sophiesmum have you got ponies and land? I am soooo jealous. I just love riding, well not even the riding really, just being around ponies.0 -
bails I am a Homecarer (after being a Staff Nurse from the year dot
)
I have a group of elderly people who I visit in their own homes and, depending on their needs, I help them with all aspects of personal care, light coal fires, cook meals, give medicines, put washing on and do some general housework. Mainly I chat to themand boy, can I chat :rotfl:
I have learnt so much about their lives, families and the history of the area where I work.
I usually sart about 7.20 ish but can be earlier depending on how many people I get added to my list
Trouble with me is, I can't say no  Sometimes I can be out from 7.15am until 9pm (with a couple of short spells at home) but actually only do 6hrs face to face care as you may only be allowed 15 or 30mins to do the work (this is assessed by a Social Worker). TBH, some of the assessments are years out of date and a client's needs take a lot longer.
I can drive 12 miles just bombing round the small town where I work.
A lot of the old folk only see the Carers and don't get visits from family or friends. Sometimes all their relatives are dead...some of my ladies are in their 90s.
They could teach us all a lot about frugal living. Some of them have very little food in the house and a meal will be a slice of bread, cup of tea and a little bit of cheese.
And its off to work I go.....0 -
You lot are just fabulous. Just knowing you guys are there gives me so much strength.
We're not doing to much today as we all worked over the weekend. MIL is at work today (oops, did I say hooray) so we're having a duvet day, just the three of us. I nearly suggested a trip to the donkey sanctuary (it's free) but it would cost a lot in fuel so I think we'll wait for the warmer weather. So it'll be an indoor picnic. DS loves them.
I'll be back later.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
