Hi FFM, Think you are right.
I have always washed whites separately and never had a problem with them going grey looking. DD and OH both have to wear white shirts daily so I always have enough for full loads of just whites and they stay lovely and bright using one tablet of asda bio.0 -

I've not had the best day so far - I was having an argument with my friend on MSN this morning and then we decided to meet up in the park on campus to work things out, and the park was really muddy, so my jeans got covered in mud! so now I've had to pay for them to get cleaned (okay, so I needed to take some clothes to the laundrette, but that's not the point
) and, in spite of all that, we didn't really work things out anyway! argh!
I think me and another friend are going to the local chargrill burger bar on campus for tea - which i know doesn't sound good but the food is AMAZING - and it'll only cost me a fiver to get a lovely mealand then i need to do some more revision! Lol this day can't get any worse so far
Sorry you have had a bad day so far. Hope you enjoy your meal out and have a good time for the rest of the day. I've been invited for barbeque tea so will probably be having chargrilled (burnt;) ) burgers for tea too.:D0 -

I also separate my coloured to pinks/yellows/reds/browns and blue/black/greens - I can't remember if pigpen hangs out on this thread, she was laughing at my other OCD's last week.
At least when my kids went to a primary school where they wore sunshine yellow polo shirts they stayed beautifully yellow - other kids were wearing greyish yellow shirts - yuk

Some nice sounding evening meals here
I am just back from st Andrews for the day. I took dd. We had a lovely time in the charity shops. I got a halter neck sequined evening top in pale pink and cream (Coast) and a pair of (new with label m&s) pink linen cropped trousers for evenings on holiday - total £6. Work trousers (£2.50) and a handbag (Debenhams, soft leather like new -£2.50). Always get good stuff in the charity shops there. We had a picnic and time on the beach. Even warm enough to paddle. Lovely day

Good advice there for you Dawnylou, it does sound incredibly daunting and I ummed and ahhed for ages before joining but I'm so glad I did! Even if you don't come anywhere close to the 4k, I'm sure you'd see a great improvement. You can choose to exclude other things to help ease yourself in gently (I choose not to include my meds for example as they cost more than the whole budget). Hang around and if nothing else you might pick up a few tips to help you make the most of your money.
Thanks for the tips FFM and SophiesMum, I did only wash whites but I didn't use any washing powder at all - do I still have to use some with the soda and vinegar? Maybe these whites have had it and I might have more luck with new ones in the future? (OH is not always so selective - my white underwear is now pink!).
Sorry to hear about your day SF, hope tonight's meal makes up for it. Prudent, your day sounds fab, wish I'd come! I'm looking into the Dignity thing, thanks SophiesMum.The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

I can't believe how much you have all posted! I leave you all for one frugal day out and come back to screeds and screeds, which means that I have forgotten who has said what by the time I catch up and then there are more posts by the time I type my reply. :rotfl:
Hello to Dawnylou! You are welcome to lurk on, join, follow this thread anytine and if you don't fancy jumping in with both feet, just tag along for the fun and practice for next year.
Hope everyone has had the same weather we have had here today! It [STRIKE]was[/STRIKE] still is an absolute scorcher! We packed the picnic, headed off to the animal park - I drove HS's car and went the wrong way, so the 10 mile trip became 20- and we arrived to see Mrs Donkey happily munching away at the grass in the paddock, as fat as can be, and still no foal! Got pics anyway, for the before and after, which means we'll need to go back again very soon!
Spent a few hours at the park, had picnic by the duck pond, saw all the other babies - lambs, Jirds (sp?) chipmunks, a day old gosling, chicks, piglets and baby alpacas, then the owner brought out Angus the owl and then one of the rabbits for DGD to stroke. I love going to the park!
They have a little shop on site and it has a 'rummage shelf' of old magazines for 20p each, so I have 'invested' £3 in copies of Country Smallholding and The Smallholder. I can put these through as a business expense (stock) as they can be sold via my eBid store once I've read them all.
Because it was so warm and sunny, we went to the swing park after, and then on to the beach where DD and DGD went paddling. Must remember to pack a beachtowel next time! The funniest thing I saw was a small boat parked at the bottom of someone's drive opposite the beach and they had called it S.S. Aye. Couldn't work it out until I read underneath, it said, "Spending Son's Inheritance!" :rotfl: Love it! Got piccie of it to show DS, who had work as usual today.
Got home and went straight into the garden to sit and read about making hen houses, baking biscuits, bartering and... then realised I was burned to the 'cooked lobster' stage. It is STILL glorious sunshine outside and the weather forecast said cloudy morning, wet afternoon.Must go get washing in or it will be dried into skeleton leaves soon. :rotfl:
Will get some piccies loaded after tea. That tin of corned beef is calling from the fridge now.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
