    Debt-free and Proud!
Given the week I've just had, I seriously considered putting my house on the market, grabbing my 77k profit and just wandering off into the sunset in my car... so the idea of a boat/bus/campervan would be fab right now...!

But... start a new job on Tuesday, initially for 2 weeks but hopefully they'll have something permanent come up... if not, the agency I'm with have loads on their books so fingers crossed.

hoping that debts will be under 9k by the end of June... something to look forward to :T

Anyone got any spare giant jaffa cake going?!

    CA x
Proud to have dealt with with my debts
Debt free from 18th March 2013, long may it continue!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :T and that coming from someone who quotes Dr Seuss in their signature! Everything on this forum is worthwhile reading for me because I didn't know there really were others out there who frugalled until I came here. Most other friends and family think I'm a loony because I actually enjoy being a part of frugal living challenges and every single person that takes part makes a difference to me - you've contributed loads, so don't get upset just because you forgot to book your seat on the frugal road trip - we're running a fleet! :D

Lol thanks Nyk! It just seems like you all have exciting stories to tell, and I really don't! but never mind, I love this challenge :p

Yeah right:rotfl: :rotfl: and my life is so exciting when I spent the afternoon potting tomato plants:rotfl: :rotfl: (and I enjoyed it:D )

    Lol I'd enjoy it too!

slowlyfading please don't think your life is uneventful. Sometimes I would very much like an uneventful few months....a house fire and a car crash is too much excitement in 3 months.
I know, you've had it hectic the last few weeks! I take back what I said now... :o:p

    Dear Fellow Frugalists,
I have just spent at least an hour on that very boring activity, researching car insurance. I went through all the screenscrapers Martin recommends, in the right order, and M&S came out top on several (though for some reason all the quotes were a bit different). Next, over to Topcashback and through to the M&S site...where they quoted me about £150 more than the figure on the screenscrapers! :wall:

Has anyone else been through this farce? What a waste of time - and how can they get away with it? I don't know who to be more suspicious of, the screenscrapers or the cashback sites. Yours, a Frustrated Frugalist (and lots of other F's as well, but we are a civilised community here). :D

Hi Redglass, sorry to hear about your insurance nightmare - I find it very infuriating too but haven't had that problem with it before, maybe someone else has? (it seems we are 'neighbours', I'm from Shepton originally).
I am SO on the bus! :j:rotfl:Sounds like a lot of fun, and we could put some raised beds on the roof for the veggies, and some solar panels and....*wanders off dreaming*
We saw a van on the way home for £1250 today......it was a real effort to keep driving (we might pop back ;))
Slowlyfading and Mumzy, everyone has something valuable to contribute to this thread and the challenge, I for one am grateful to everyone who is here for all their different takes on life and experiences etc. As for nothing interesting to post, I just ramble inanely so don't worry about that :D
JumbleBee, I would love to see just how much stuff you do have! Is there a Jumblesalers Anonymous? :D
Whitewing, sorry to hear about the pay cut, hope you can get it sorted, would be a real shame to leave a job you love.
Enjoy the roast Mumzy and good luck with the smoking.
How was the car boot in the end Nyk? We went to a massive flea market today which was interesting on one level but quite different from what I'd been anticipating (17thC bureau for £850 anyone?) Needless to say, the only thing we spent money on was the entrance fee and 79p of pic'n'mix for OH. Next week I might head up to the racecourse boot sale for a wander... Back at mum and dad's, we popped into the attic and started looking through my stuff; I HAVE SO MUCH!! And quite a lot I could sell :j It's just a case of getting round to it, but with my IB looking pretty painful, I could be inspired.
CA, congrats on the new job, I hope it does become more permanent. Well done for not giving up :T
Janey, I love hearing about your job as you cleaarly love it so much. What do you have to do exactly?
Loobyloo, is there any chance your friend would take the car back? Just a thought, I would have a mare if OH did the same, even if he thought he was making me happy! Round yours for a summer trip it is then ;)
Crashing out for the rest of the day now, just had a good hour and a half's sleep, needed that. OH is watching Scrapheap Challenge so I'll tell him to pick up some tips for the Frugal Bus :D

Thanks Bails, you have responded to eveything and I'd just like to add... I reiterate wot Bails said! :rotfl:

Carboot - 3 of us shared a 'stall' as these were still in place from the Saturday market, so I don't even need a car to do the local carboot sale. :T :j I think I earned the most, so I paid the fiver, but it was a cheap day out as I got to wander off for most of the time and chat to other sellers. Of course, I ended up spending some money that I didn't mean to, but there was this £3.50 lying in my purse, crying out to be set free to wander this earth, roaming from pocket to pocket.:rotfl: I got a lovely, brand new M&S T-Shirt, a brand new spoon rest (I really [STRIKE]needed[/STRIKE] wanted one of these for next to the cooker or microwave), a lovely little wire basket containing 2 fancy ceramic bottles - one for oil, one for vinegar, 2 limes (DS likes the lime Jaffacakes, so I'll squeeze these into the jelly) and a humungous clove of garlic that takes my stock up to a full year's worth. All of that for £3.50 wasn't bad, but I'd to haggle to get the kitchen things down to £1 and 50p as I had already spent £2 by then. :rotfl:

Now I need to update my signature to reflect my spends and my earns! Most of what I sold is classed as earnings for tax purposes, as I'm self employed and was selling business related items, but I also sold 10 books for my charity challenge, and 5 items of 'personal clutter' at 50p each, which I am adding to my Interest Beater as it's tax free. Anyone any objections? :D I can't wait until 1st June, we've booked the full weekend - Saturday market and Sunday carboot, so I can get loads of [STRIKE]bargains[/STRIKE] networking done that weekend. I feel inspired to get making some stuff for selling and to declutter all at the same time. :j
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

What have you all got planned for tomorrow, anything??
Today has been wet and miserable all day and I feel like making the most of my day off tomorrow but can't think of anything exciting to do. OH is working and DD is off hacking with her horsey friends so that leaves me billy no mates:o :o

I might take a trip to B&Q and pick up some paint and have a go at transforming my bathroom cabinets and storage drawers, might keep me out of mischief:confused: would have to spend money though:eek: :rotfl:

mollymop - did your dresser arrive okay???
