Can anyone tell me how they lay out there spends in a diary or book? Cause i noticed that at end of month people have like Grocery - so much, BEER £X.XX etc etc and was wondering how you layed it all out during the month on paper cause it would take me ages to go thorugh 30 pages (30 days) of adding stuff up indiviualy.Sealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -
I have just realized its May and I had not updated my bottom!
So I have quickly done the figures and they are not looking too bad.
Final figure for the general shopping is just over 63 for April, will need a big spend at some point to top up the basics, but am managing fine at the moment!
Yearly figures are looking Ok, there will be a big surge once the oil goes in! I save for that monthly but pay on receipt of 1000 litres (not cheap at the moment!) , but now that the summer is approaching I hope that wont happen for 3or 4 months!0 -

I think I might be in B&Q as well, or down at the nursery (if it's open) looking for something for French beans to climb up. Dug the garden this afternoon (it's only the size of a hanky) and sawed some firewood for the Great Winter Stockpile.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Hm, I'm Billy No Mates tomorrow as well SophiesMum, fancy popping in for a cuppa?
The weather forecast seems to suggest it might be nice enough to do some gardening but we'll see  Hopefully a walk or the gym as I'm in need of some exercise (I use this term in the loosest sense these days
) and I also need to make a weekly pacing/ organisational plan - dull but necessary. Will need to make sure I put in adequate time for van searching/modification :rotfl:We just started looking on the net - it's all your fault Nyk! - but I don't see how we can afford to do it now really
I have a mate who has done up several vans though so I might start picking his brains to get a realisitc idea of costs for the future.
Nyk, sounds like the car-boot-from-a-table was a success :T It's good you've got something to hopefully inspire you with your product making this month.
Mumzy, lots of people use spendingdiary which will calculate your spends per category as you go along. I use an A5 diary, simply because my internet was unreliable at the time and I had one lying around, and then I try and add up my spends in each category each week (or two or three...). Spending diary is probably the best thing to use.

Mumzy, I use the online www.spendingdiary.com and it works fine. I also add everything up as I go along and don't actually have that many spending 'items', so that helps. Grocery, for me, covers absolutely everything food, drink, cleaning, toiletry or laundry related. Basically, if I can buy it in the supermarket then it's grocery.
Bails - you were looking at vans??????? :rotfl: Have you looked at the campervanlife.com site to see how to convert them? I saw a teeny weeny dinky 'Rascal'
Sophiesmum - the donkey at our local animal park was due to have her foal this week so we are going there to see if baby arrived safely. Rain, hail, sleat or snow, we're going to that park! :j Will take the camera, a frugal sandwich (hm bread), a flask of coffee and a waterproof jacket. The entry fees should be the only extravagance and I'll try not to adopt an animal whilst I'm there.
Does anyone make their own crisps? I'm toying with the idea of going and making some just now but haven't made any for years. Ready salted and paprika are quite nice but can't decide if this is just plain silly or if it is, indeed, frugal. Going for quick exploration for recipes for savoury snacks.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Bails - A cuppa sounds great, bit far though:D You can pop in here for one when you get going in your van:D You could have frugal pit stops all over the country;)0 -
