it would seem that nobody else has received their letter about the increase in Virgin Media services (should I take this personally?) of £ 2.50 from 1st June 08 , I could not get any sense from cs when I asked if it was per service or what. If it is then my bill will go up by £ 7.50 per month as I have x 3 services with them!!!! The guy told me to 'wait until my 1st revamped bill ' to find out what the actual increase will be. I'm seriously starting to wonder if this letter is a figment of my imagination. !!!!

You don't need anyone to refer you. I phoned up enquiring and they sorted it out there and then without the reference.
  • An excerpt from a follow up email that I got from VM:

"Some changes to our standard charges
There are a few changes to our standard tariff happening from 12th of May we need to tell you about, too.

Your monthly package gives you a set amount of minutes to use to any landline and mobile network in the UK. If you use these up before the end of the month, you’ll switch onto our Pay Monthly standard tariff, which means calls to other mobile networks in the UK will cost 40p a minute from 12th May (right now they cost 35p a minute). Remember, this is only once you’ve used up your monthly allowance of minutes and texts.

Texts to other networks are also changing. Once you’ve used up your set amount of texts to any mobile network in the UK, you’ll use our Pay Monthly standard tariff, where texts to other UK networks will soon cost 12p a message (instead of 10p).

The next change only applies to you if you use advertised call forwarding services with numbers that begin 07 for example 07744 or 07755. These aren’t like normal mobile phone numbers, they’re services you can use if you want to manage your calls. From now on it’ll cost 40p a minute to use them from your Virgin Mobile phone. And just to let you know, if you have a bundle, these calls aren’t part of that.

One more thing to mention is that our 5p minimum call charge, for calls that last less than a minute, is changing to 10p. This happens from the 9th of June. But it only affects you if you make calls outside your monthly airtime package. If you’d like to add a larger one or check the tariff you have is right for you, just visit
    virginmobile.co.uk"

Yep, they're really improving the service that they give me...

Don't forget that you can save a £1 a month by not having a paper statement .

I know that I never use 300 mins/Texts a month but I have paid for them it is not like they haven't be paid for.

  • the 300 300 £10 deal is still best deal around.as for the removal of roll over, if you don't use it why are you moaning for??the deal is 300 mins and 300 texts for £10 for one month so its up to you if you use them or not. The deal is a sim only deal so its not a contract so they have got the legal right to make any changes they wish as long as they give notice which it does actually state in the t's and c's when you sign up for the deal!!

............I think too many people want everything for free nowadays!! :rotfl:

I'm on 200mins and 500 texts sim only for £15 - so if I request not to receive a paper bill each month would my cost go down to £14pm?

They can change the contract to disadvante you but their is a clause in your contract to say if they do so you can cancel your contract.

Phone up their customer services and ask for the deal. Its usually £15 (its called the liberty sim) but you don't need a referral from someone with virgin media.

Use the saynoto0870 number website for the local phone number.
  • My refresh day for minutes and texts is usually the 15th of every month.

I got an sms from Virgin Mob. yesterday saying:
"This month you may have noticed your unused airtime wasn't carried over. We've fixed the problem and will be adding an extra 300 mins and 300 texts today, free!"

Then another text from 789789 saying that I now had 600 mins and 600 texts.
I've checked and sure enough they're there. Not complaining but !!!!!!!!!???
