I dont think they are a scam or a con, if they were they would not offer you a refund.
The fact they are prepared to refund you is exactly because they are a scam, Better to cough up then have you report them for it.

Please be assured that you will get what your entitled to, that being a FULL REFUND (on top of the 4 month "courtesy" refund.) No matter how many payments you have already paid ;).

Be sure to demand a full refund (all money taken WILL be repaid - by law!)

    It only takes two steps:

1-A phone call (2-3minute), confirm your email, name and address (and you'd like all your money back, as you didn't know that you signed up to this scam).

2-Posting of the claim form. (which they email to you as a result of the phone call)

  • Thanks, Marleyboy, for the info above, but I managed to stop the beast after only 3 x £10 had been scooped from my account.
So, as things stand, no need of further transactions with SD&R unless the repayments fail to materialise.
Following speaking to my Debit Card people, they also wished to refund me! They are also replacing the Debit Card to prevent SD&R accessing the account in future.
    Belt and braces there.
    Best Regards,
    DB

My wife booked flights back in Nov 2010 with Ryanair and without realising selected (or so we think) an option to subscribe to SHOPPER DISCOUNTS.
Since then I have had £10 taken from my account per month. HSBC were ok about it and have reversed each debit but it will continue until i get SHOPPER DISCOUNT to cancel the agreement.

I find it disgraceful that Ryanair or any other company can get away with this sort of behaviour, it is clearly a scam, They know they are catching you off guard.

Also, after searching Ryanairs website, there is a mention of SHOPPER DISCOUNT and it states that the agreement is subject to a free 30 day trial, we didnt get this, removed £10 instantly.

Transactions like this should only be allowed when they receive bank details from the cardholder themselves, not passed on by another company. Some company, somewhere in the world can take my money whenever they want. Ridiciulous

Tried contacting Ryanair but they dont display any email addresses, illegal by the way under online trading laws, so i have to write to them or fax? No wonder they have the lowest complaints for an airline as they are boasting!

see you next tuesday-s...the lot of them.
Disgraceful yes; surprising, no. About par for the course for them I think.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Agreed that it is no surprise that Ryanair have a deal with these scammers. However having had a more positive impression of FlyBe I was very disappointed to find them also operating the same scam on their website.
  • At 7.45 am someone stole £10 from my account. I was still in bed. At 10 am I got a call from my bank. Looking back at the statements I see that this company has been stealing £10 from my account every month for 12 months. Apparently while buying flowers for my mom in Dec 2009 from Interflora, I inadvertently clicked on a button which gave a company by the name of Shoppers Discount permission to steal £10 a month from me until further notice. Wow.

Why did the bank call you today and not previously?

  • I to was done for 3 times by £10.00 by shoppersdiscount, They have said they would cancel my subscription and refund the £30.00 within 10 days, This was all because I brought a ticket from the traineline. NEVER AGAIN.

Saw a debit card transaction on my current account for £10 the other day for shopperdiscounts.co.uk. I called Halifax for more info. They knew all about them and explained what would have happenned. Traced back to an interflora transaction 6 months ago and they had taken £60 in all from me.

I've since called consumer direct to lodge a complaint, but they have just told me to write to the company. I have spoken to the company direct. They agreed to refund £10 straight away. When I said I wanted it all back, they offered £30. When I said I wasn't happy with that, they emailed me a form to complete to fax back to them which I did immediately. If they don't give me my money back inside 10 days, I'll be taking a trip to Sevenoaks and getting the money back in person.

I complained to Interflora - I received an email back from their director of marketing to say they no longer used Web Loyalty. I won't be using Interflora again though - it was a sad day when they sold out and became a commercial entity - looks like private equity's drive to get money in with no scruples has done huge damage to Interflora's brand. But I'm sure they'll find a buyer no problem, make their money back and more and walk away into the sun very wealthy.

As for Web Loyalty, I sincerely hope the authorities in this country or the other side of the pond sort them out. They add no value. They operate in the grey area between what's illegal and legal and get away with it. They are making money by gaining interest on the money they take each month and from the people who don't make any effort to get their money back. They are scummy scammers and nothing more... really sad when some people have nothing positive to add to society, that they just want to con people. This needs some sort of campaign group to take these people down.

Sorry just wanted to add in case it's not here already, the people are inviolved to be named and shamed are:
    CHARLES MCCARTHY
    RICHARD FERNANDES
    MARTIN CHILD

Perfectly put, when you consider the massive volume of unaware customers on a Global Scale, you can see how your refund is mere pennies when compared to the interest they make alone. Everyone should be fully aware that they are legally entitled to a complete refund, although they will try to fob you off with just 3 repayments.

They know what they are doing is illegal, which is why they will refund you, just to stay slightly under the radar, at some point, someone with a little more clout in the legal profession will decide to go ahead and take them to court rather than just accept a full refund. As did happen in the U.S.

Be firm, these people have robbed you blind, and they will continue to do so, so long as they are able to.
