Is there a list of websites that pass details onto shopper discounts and rewards, i can add fragrance direct to that list
  • When I once lost my Credit Card and was re issued with a new one the number and details were all different.

    I have two amounts to
    charities
that I subscribe to monthly and I had to provide them with the new details or they wouldn't have got their money.

To stop them taking anymore money I would cancel the card and get a new one. After that I would then investigate the payments. It could take a while to get the information and you certainly won't want to give them any more money.
  • I today received a £15 cheque from this company. That was a surprise as I could not remember having any dealings with them. I checked out this thread and bagan digging deeper. I phoned them. Apparently I had been seeking a £15 discount on a laptop purchase with buyitdirect.co.uk. Yes, I apparently got about three emails advising I was now a member. What I didn't know was that I would be charged £10 per month for the privilege. "Luckily" my credit card was compromised in March this year so they only got three payments through. As they could no longer draw on my card they cancelled my account. No further email or letters. :D

Having thought a bit more about it I phoned them back again a second time and this time told them that I had no intention of wishing to sign up for a discount sheme which cost me £10 a month and that I had understood wrongly that the discount would be applied when at the checkout stage on the laptop website. Sure enough, they have agreed to refund the £30. However they have to put this back where it came from. i.e. the compromised credit card account which no longer exists.:rotfl:

When this bounces back as it surely will, they will then and only then issue a cheque to me for the £30.:EasterBun

I have sent comment to BUYITDIRECT.CO.UK similar to previous examples above.

I will let you know if I ever receive the £30 cheque and also if the one for £15 is bankable.

  • Hi,

I have had exactly the same thing happen to me as everyone else, although £10 has been debited over the last 12 months. Thankfully my bank is refunding me the money. (shame on me for not checking my statements) - the customer service person also recommended that I report my card lost so that a new card can be issued with new details... My bank also recommend that I report this to Consumer Rights, he mentioned that they were dealing with alot of other customers sharing the same problem as all of us.

    Good luck
  • How long has this scam been going on?? I found a debit on my Mastercard yesterday and when I googled Shoppers Rewards I found this forum. The only place where I could have been caught with this was on JD Williams as that is the only internet shopping I have done. I copied an email that one of you had sent about this to JD Williams last night and I also emailed Shoppers Rewards last night threatening them with Trading Standards if I didn't have a refund with 14 days and hey!!!! When I opened my email this morning at 0900 there is an email from them saying they have cancelled my "membership" and a refund will be made. Thank you MSE - I would have struggled to get my head round this one if I hadn't found this forum.

Maybe this is something Martin need's to highlight in his weekly email or on some of his broadcasts, as how many more people have been caught out?

A spokesman for Webloyalty said: “We understand that some consumers, regardless of the abundance of clear and conspicuous disclosures, may still complain that they were unaware, or perhaps subsequently forgot, that they had enrolled in a membership programme. Any suggestion that consumers have been signed up for Webloyalty’s service without their knowledge or consent would be false.”

So there you go. Everyone is a liar bar Webloyalty !!!!

You could not make it up.

IT also looks like our friends in America are far more switched on to this blatant scam than we are over here.

  • Hello everyone. I promised you an update.

I was really quite dubious about getting anything back. I phoned them another time to make sure then followed this with a call to my credit card provider. Tesco indicated that the refund would transfer automatically to my new card if it came through.

I am able to see the credits now on my account. Also the £15 cheque seems to have been credited to my bank.

So despite the hassle it all seems to have worked out nicely.

Be persistent with them and you will get your money refunded. My sceptisism was due to them so readily accepting that I would be given a refund. They must be making enough money to make the refunds. Just a pity so many people so easily get taken in by them.

I emailed BUYITDIRECT but so far they have decided not to respond. They are however still linked to this company as I was told this by ShoppersDiscounts.

    Best wishes to everyone.
  • Any ideas how I could get my money back from SA - sent flowers via Interflora, never recieved any notification that I had become a member but paying a monthly subscription anyway to something I could never use!

Just lodge a complaint with S D & R saying that you were joined up without your permission and want all the payments that have been made to S D & R refunded.

They will refund you as they don't want Trading Standards to investigate their highly dubious business methods.
