I got caught out by Shopperdiscounts.co.uk when I made an order through La Redoute. Their ad flashed up and took me through a signing-up process which made no explicit mention of a £10 monthly charge. I then received follow-up emails which didn't mention it or flag it up. As I was in the process of moving house at the time I probably wasn't as hot on it as I should have been. The first I realised I was being charged was when I checked my bank statement and saw a recurring visa transaction. When I rang to cancel, they were very polite and seemed to be expecting me to cancel!! They also said they would refund the one payment that had been taken. These kind of scams - which is what they are - are very sneaky, and rely on the fact we are all busy and being bombarded with information from all sources these days and won't notice a payment we didn't realise we were signing up to. Watch out!!0

:mad:Yes a full blown con....just found two amount of £10 taken on my debit card. Turns out it was pizza hut on-line ordering!!!!!!!0

I have just discovered the shopperdiscount scam on this sight. I booked tickets with Monarch Airlines in March 09 when I was scammed and have had £10 removed from my mastercard ever since. As its a business card I admit to not noticing it, so they have got away with a huge sum. Beware that Monarch are suing this scam and once caught its almost impossible to cancel the payment. If you have a NATWEST card then they are no help at all.0

I have just realised that I have been scammed as well. I think it originated from Pizza Hut. I have e-mailed the company to request that they pay the £100 that they have taken from me without my permission. I will also be e-mailing Pizza Hut to strongly suggest that they remove their association with this company. Will let you know how I get on.0

After reading these posts I realised I also have been somehow subscribed to this "service". It also seems that this happened when my wife purchased a pizza through pizza hut using my details
I just don't understand what type of service they provide. It looks like a cashback site.
I just called them and they said that my account would be cancelled from today and the subscription fees refunded.
I will check later to see if this has been done.0 -
aaaaaaaaaagh !
I also unwittingly signed up to these cheapskates
(luckily i did a quick search and came to this thread)
thankyou for the tip off
I am a regular in my local WHSmiths and often get given vouchers
with my daily newspaper , this week i got one for £10 off
from http://www.mandmdirect.com/
anyways as with peeps above i clicked on a link at checkout
and thinking i was getting a further discount,
but it turned out i was signed up to shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk !
anyways i went to bed last night thinking nothing of it.
but today i checked how to get this cashback
and googled the company. i think i will stick to quidco:money:
so tonight i range their freephone customer services
0800 731 9935
and they said as i was within a 30 days trial period !?
i could cancel . god knows what happens if you go past that.
they sent a email confirmation of my cancellation with a code.
( hope they dont still take a payment)
so maybe a lucky escape for me , but a warning to others
about some of the easy tricks that can be played on the
unsuspecting (and in my case i always thought i was a bit savvy)
lesson learned
kind regards

This forum has been extremely useful in researching my unauthorised transactions to my credit card. I tracked back to mother's day + 30 days - my flowers cost + £80 thanks to Interflora.
I have been promised a refund from shoppers discount who like others said that it was in the small print. So that makes it legal eh!!
But, Interflora and shoppers discount, that's damaged trust and therefore your brand.
I shall vote with my feet, you lost my custom. Plus you get bad press in powerful forums that surely is not welcomed.
Incidentally, it is known on the BBC watchdog site, and there is pressure from European law to state that its not good enough to hide the subscription and they are warning suppliers on this.
What about letting BBC know then? Watchdog are aware of this and its been featured in the press, but its still not sorted.
Lets save others before xmas falling into the trap. Supposing this was your elderly parents or others unable to fight their corner.0 -
DS1 has been caught by them ordering from an online golf store. We've cancelled online and phoned to check it was cancelled. They have said they will refund the 3 payments within 10 days. Not sure if I expect to receive it or not.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Having just been on the phone for over an hour to my bank and creditratingmatters, the only way i could get any money back was to proceed with fraud as i had no knowledge of anything to do with creditratingmatters, i had not click any links or agreed to any transactions with them i only use my card on-line for banking. my phone conversation with Bob Stevens (manager)was eventful to say the least, what an arrogant, condescending man this is. I was only asking simple questions and all i got back was "i'm talking so you will listen or i will put you on hold" at which point i asked what he was on about i just wanted to know how they had got my details and if they will refund me, reply given was "right then hold it is", as pleasant as the music was it wasn't the answer i was looking for but then the phone was put down on me. so i ha no chose but to go though my bank who said i did the right thing by trying them first now its time to let the bank do there thing, hopefully they dont treat the bank the same way they treated me.0

DS1 has had the £30 (3 x£10) refunded into his bank today.
I have noticed more and more the option to click through for a discount on loads of website - Figleaves was one for sure. I guess the companies concerned get paid for the click through being on there sites but still find it disappointing. A name and shame list would be good. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
