I accidently found the monthly charges by shopperdiscount co uk on my credit card today after a friend told me about the similar story.

I phoned them and was told they got my card details when I ordered a gas hob from www 365electrical com. I asked shopperdiscount co uk to terminate the charge immediately and are seeking a way to get the money back.

The Halifax credit card branch does not give much help and suggest me to contact shopperdiscount.co.uk directly.

I will report any progress later on.

I just joined up because I googled shopperdiscount and it brought up this page.

Hadn't checked but they'd taken 5 months of memberships fees from me....£50!! I didn't even realise I signed up! What a scam!! :mad:

Well have taken ppl's advice, phoned, cancelled, was told I'd get £10 back, read more of the forum, read I could get full refund, so have complained again now and am waiting to see what happens!!

Eurrrgghh!

Welcome to all the newbies to MSE, I am only sorry on the circumstances behind your joining up, please take note that you are legally entitled to "A FULL REFUND" be sure to let them know you are seeking to claim ALL monies paid into the scheme, however much it is, its your legal entitlement and they have NO CHOICE but to refund it all back to you.

Just found out about these dirty little scrotes today. At least their customer services department seem polite and adept.

Turns out that I 'joined' this scheme when I paid for a flight with eBookers back in December and was offered a discount on future purchases. Unfortunately a combination of being abroad and moving house has resulted in me not going through my statements since with the attention I should.

I'm sure Martin's already done so but I'm sure there will be many MSE'ers out there who would benefit from an inclusion on this 'business' in one of his weekly emails.

Thanks for all the helpful advice on this site - looks like I'm getting all monies back (fingers crossed!).

Honestly this should be illegal. Are they following regulations to the letter? Has anyone written to their MP/ombudsman/newspaper consumer columns etc.? How can they keep on getting away with what is in essence theft?

BTW I note Mother's day is coming up. Normally my BF would automatically order flowers from Interflora - but not this year he's not, if I have my way. I hope no-one here is planning to buy from them either?

Im guessing your in the States Mothersday has been n gone here since 14th March.

I could not agree more with you wigglebeena, theyre a crafty lot, this has been going on for years now and STILL nobody has stopped them continuing, what they are doing IS illegal and they know it, its why if you claim for a FULL REFUND they pay up, dont be fobbed off by the one off fee, be sure to say "No, ALL of it please!", its what you are legally entitled to, it is also what they are legally obliged to do.

I (like everyone else) have found this charge on my credit card. They are like parasites that eventually will be coming to a town near you.
Thanks Marley Boy for your links, it made facinating reading re: the class action taken in the U.S.A .
Because there is never a great amount on my credit card I picked up on it as being something I had not subscribed to. I phoned them (S.D) and was given the usual reassurance that I will be refunded.
Ticket Master was my link into this.
I will continue to follow this thread.
