I just saw this thread while I was browsing and thought I'd add my tuppence worth, as I've just recently signed up (and since cancelled) my membership of SD&R.
I bought a memory stick from mymemory.com for £20 and once I went through the payment screen, I got the "offer to save £15 on my next purchase". In my opinion, "mymemory" made it pretty clear that it was a third-party arrangement and once you click through to the SD&R website, again it seemed pretty clear (to me anyway) what you're signing up for with the free 30-day trial and then the monthly fee.
I went through their requirements, made a note of the date I needed to cancel to avoid the fee. I went back to "mymemory" and bought another memory card. I then emailed SD&R, my purchase order details and voucher code. A few days later, I got a follow up email from SD&R to confirm I'd made 2 separate purchases on the sign-up day (ie. I wasn't trying to claim on a first purchase only). I sent them details of both orders which they acknowledged.
About 10 days later I got a cheque for £15 from them (which was a surprise because I was expecting it "within 30 days" as per their T&C), and a few days after that I got a reminder from them spelling out the date that trial period would be ending and that I'd be paying after that. I went through to their website, went to the help/contact us section and they have a drop-down option to cancel your membership. I got the cancellation email after 5 minutes and no payments have gone out to them.
I thought the whole process was pretty transparent if you read the terms and conditions. Maybe it wasn't spelt out so clearly in the early days when this thread was started but I can't understand how anyone can complain if they've signed up under the current process. I don't know how much clearer they can make it - unless of course you're the kind of person who clicks through without looking at the details of what you're signing up to - in which case it's a bit rich to blame someone else.0 -
(sigh) If only we could all be as perfect as Idiot Hunter, Wiggle Waggle etc..0

Sorry I find you way too far beneath my feet to have relevance.
I will stick to the facts as they have been reported, and will happily repeat that your opinion (as that is all you have to offer other than determination), is insignificant to me.
I will also reiterate to you, that YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION whilst politely reminding you I AM ENTITLED TO MINE, your determination not to accept that only serves to make me even LESS convinced you know what your talking about.
The way I see it, IT HAS ALREADY BEEN EXPOSED AS A SCAM. That is enough for me to deduce NOT to do business with them.
You can bleat and stamp your feet over it as much as you like, a singular newbie member with nothing more to offer than what you have, is hardly likely to make me anymore convinced this company is not a scam, moreso a newbie who's sole reason for signing up to MSE is to demand SDR is a safe bet, I would class as suspect. In this I am not convinced one little iota you are likely to convince the thousands of members on here who have been SCAMMED, that it is not a SCAM.
I will happily and constantly re-iterate that this company was exposed as a scam, safe in the knowledge that I HAVE EVIDENCE to back it up, (of which still exists in this very thread).
You can rant about it as much as you wish, I have the added bonus of ignoring you from here on. Feel free to rant over it on the faint hope someone might actually believe your tripe. I DONT!
As much as to say that I will not cease in reminding members to do their research, including yourself.
On the same token I will not stop providing such research for those who HAVE been scammed by them, no matter what you think about it.
On this note; THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER!
Marleyboy, can I just point out that your arguments are in fact based on only opinion, as Idiot Hunter says, the opinion of the people that feel they are victims. If as you say, the Guardian, Times, US Senate, NASA or the NFL or anyone else you claim to mention had proven SDR to be a scam, they would not be operating. The fact is they have merely been "sited", much as I say, by the self justifying victims.
Yet when someone like myself, who is a member of SDR points out the advantages, and savings to be made, even going so far as to show how much greater the % savings are than the FREE sites, thus justifying their subscription, you choose to ignore these facts and the evidence produced.
Your supercilious response also speaks highly of your nature, but let me point out to you, right now, it is you that are far beneath consideration.
The fact is, SDR are not a free service, yet if you read their terms, and actually make use of them, you will easily recoup their subscription many times, over and above the % savings of the free alternatives like Quidco.
So, please note, THIS CONVERSATION IS NOT OVER, and I just bet you can't ignore my comments!! :beer:0 -
Shopper Discounts & Rewards were exposed on BBC One. Check it out. Enough said.0

You have got to laugh at the 2 trolls on here trying to defend this scam.
The thread is 60 pages long full of hundreds of people that have been scammed by this company.
Are they all in the wrong?0 -
Never used them and based on what i have read here i would consider myself extremely stupid if i ever contemplated using them in the future.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0

Well I have been well and truely had on this one. I darent even tell you how long £10 has been going off my credit card and its only cos I hardly use that particular card anymore that I even questioned it. Normally I only scan my over the transactions....enough said.
Do you think that there will be a way for me to receive any sort of refund ?? And do I just call 0808234 1539 to cancel whatever it is I have!!!0 -

I have not been able to take the time to read all the posts on so voluminous a thread.
I too have an account with these merchants (how I got it is irrelevant) and have never used any of their promotions. I discovered that they had never implemented the fee charges and should have left it at that.
Instead I wrote to them cancelling my membership: this was a mistake as not only did they not cancel but then began to taake the charges.
I have written to them again and complained to my card issuer.
Has anyone any suggestions as to what else I can do if this fails?
Forgive me if this has been covered already and point me to other responses on the forum please.

I've just realised I have become a member of a discount shopping site and have had £20 taken out of my account. I had booked tickets with National Express and ticked a box to get a £15 voucher (for something). I didn't read the SMALL PRINT which meant I had agreed to become a member. I have just rung them and cancelled the membership and hopefully will get the money back.0

I have NEVER heard of these people....I didnt accept ANY discount schemes whatsoever....I went for a free trial credit check, which I couldnt even use OR cancel the next day and a Pizza online and somehow I ended up with £10 a month to Shoppers discounts and £39.90 to 2 others rewardsnow and creditscorematters...to the tune of £149.70!!!
I have never received any emails to tell me that I would be having money taken from my account..and I have checked my spam folder too. The first I knew was when I was scanning my statements...
I would say to all of you (except the 2 transparent idiots that clearly work for the shoppers discounts scam..) check your statements, stupidly, I am guilty of not checking...but will be in the future!!!...
I will categorically state, despite the 2 suspect employees posting on here that I didnt accept ANY discount schemes at all and my card details were taken through deception.
I have spoken with 'retailer disputes' at my bank who have refunded all the payments made to these 3 companies and they are apparently well known....as the hundreds of posts on here will also verify.0
