• Just to say that this has happened to me on SeeTickets.com, so beware...
• I don't believe that I have just been caught out by this too and it's been going for so long? There has got to be some sort of regulator or ombudsman for this, surely?! How can they get away with stealing? Never mind small print, they are stealing!
• I always carefully check my receipts and refunds match up with my credit card statements but somehow I've only just noticed that I have been quietly ripped off by Shopperdiscounts.co.uk to the tune of £200. Quite a shock! I don't know how they got my credit card details. I have called and terminated my "membership" but I wasn't given an option to speak to a person so I have sent an email requesting a refund. I have also contacted my credit card company and I plan to make a complaint to the OFT. As it is a complete mystery to me how this happened, I have decided to give up online shopping - hence the name!
• It is the perfect scam by the amount of people complaining they've been scammed (including me!). We all fell for it!
My answer to the people who say we should regularly check our bank/credit card statements.....well my amex is a company card. So it only came up on the end of year accounts when they asked.."What are these monthly £10 shopper discount payments since January 2011?"
I had no idea who they were until I googled the name and navigated to this site.
I've no idea how I even entered into this agreement, apart from now realising after reading other complaints...I must have pressed "£10 off your next purchase" without reading the small print that most probably states "WE WILL TAKE £10 FROM YOUR ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH"
Silly me :(
I cannot even find any emails from Shoppers Discount giving me vouchers or fantastic offers. So I haven't even taken advantage of them...even if they exist. Main reasons for maybe not getting emails from them...
(a) I had an NTL email address in Jan 2011, but NTL closed my account when I moved.
(b) Like most people have mentioned...Shoppers Discount emails can be automatically classed as spam...or you just throw it in the trash box yourself because you don't even recognise the name "Shoppers Discount"
It is a complete rip-off and I cannot believe it is legal.

For all those people who have been unwittingly paying the £10 per month to Shopper Discounts and Rewards (trading name of Webloyalty International Limited); if you have never made use of the discounts or rewards and did not realise that you had in fact signed up to the scheme, please reclaim your payments.

You can do this by calling their Customer Service Centre on 0800 731 9935 (free phone number for Shopper Discounts & Rewards). They will refund up to 3 months immediately and if you have paid more than that, you will have to complete and return the form which they will send out to you.

If you run into any problems, please contact us at Consumer Focus on investigations@consumerfocus.org.uk.

Thanks

Highly recommend you take the advice of above post. They are in NO position to refuse you a refund, don't take this lying down.

My sister has just noticed, last week, that she has been scammed by Shopper Rewards. They have taken 30 x £10 from her account and she only noticed it last week.

She had made a purchase for panto tickets via Ticketmaster and it was there that she was stung.

She telephoned her bank and they informed her that they could recover the money. This turned out not to be so. A case of one member of bank staff telling her one thing and the reality being another. The bank cancelled the debit card, seemingly in the end for no good reason.

She telephoned Shopper Reward and they offered to cancel and to refund the last payment of £10. My sister said "not enough". They then offered 3 x £10 and my sister said "I want more". Shopper Rewards said that she would need to download their Additional Refund Request Form from their website, complete it and fax or post it to them. This she did.

As a result they have refunded to her account the full amount of £300.

I've just noticed I've paid this for the last 14 months, contacted them same as the post above, they will instantly (apparently) refund the last 3 months back but also sent me a form to claim back the full amount taken. I've just sent that off and hopefully will be refunded.

They have advised I 'agreed' to this when I booked a flight with Ryanair in November 2010. I can't remember doing it and would definately not have given them my bank details. Annoyed with myself for not checking my statements more carefully, as its a joint account I assumed it might be something my boyfriend knew about and he thought vice versa.

They say they have sent emails but I am positive they haven't as I keep every email (google archive) and I've trawled through them today going back 18 months. Nothing from them. Suppose they take advantage of the fact it's not a huge enough amount for people ot pick up on - especially if its not a sole account.

Well I have certainly learned my lesson!

When the Ryanair flight was booked, at the end of the process it would have said something like this: "would you like £15 off of your next flight". And thereby lies the trick. You of course press the button to accept what you think is the possibility of Ryanair giving you a code or something that will enable you to obtain a discount. But in actual fact what you are doing is subscribing to this company to the tune of £10 per month. The details of the credit/debit card that you used to book the flights are immediately passed to this third party and that's how it all starts.

It should be outlawed. It blatantly relies on the fact that you think you are going to get something for free and that because it is free anyway, that there will be no strings attached.

On the upside, you'll never do it again!
