Anyone tried to upgrade to the new Sony Ericsson W800i on O2 contract which came out on 12th Aug? If so, how much did you have to pay for mobile and what tariff/charge are you paying?
Any info would be appreciated...

hi reddwarf, i tried on the 12th to upgrade howver the retentions department have no pricing structures yet so they cannot offer a good upgrade deal.
I went to my local o2 shop and they offered me to stay on £19 tariff and £160 for the handset!!
Also i went into phones4u and their cheapest o2 structure for a new customer is a free handset on the £45 tarrif.
When I came home i found that o2 online offers for new customers is £29.99 for the handset and lowest tarrif £19 which is a GREAT offer, so it was suggested i call back retentions next week when they have the pricing structure available and they could cut me a deal.
Based on an upgrade last month i got a k750i on £19 tarrif for my partner so i should imagine they will just send it out with no charge for the handset and not change from the £19 tarrif (but thats just a guestimate)
I will post more when i find out
Best offer from o2 onlineRunning total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan

Dragonfly,
Yeah I saw the online offer too but I have the highstreet tariff with O2. At the moment O2 are asking for £30 for upgrading to the K750i so I would imagine that it would be more than this (for me anyway).
But hopefully the price of the K750i should be reduced now that the W800i has been released...in which case I need to weigh up which woud be the better option as both phones are almost identical apart from the extra memory & walkman mode on W800i.0 -
ok reddwarf, grab an o2 bill of yours, if you have tel no 08702 410202 along the right hand side of every page then you are the same as me. If this is the case and you pay at least £19 per month and you would like a k750i call them up on the number above enter your mobile number and choose option 2 then 2 again it should take you through to retentions/upgrades and cancellations.
ask them how you would go about cancelling your contract as you have been told you would get a better deal for a k750i as a new customer by the link or phones4u.
Thats exactly what i did and they offered me the k750i for no extra charge and that was 30 days before my upgrade was due.
I have called again today about the w800i and they have told me to call back in 1-2 weeksRunning total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan

Thanks for the advice Dragonfly, but I have already sort of upgraded by threatening to leave. I am on O2 leisure time, half price line rental for 12 months (£10pm after upgrade). I haven't upgraded the phone yet though as I have been told that I can get a handset anytime I want so I am biding my time
As for the 0870 number; I don't know if it works for anyone else but I can speak to customer services free of charge by dialling 100 from my handset. Doesn't come out of the free minutes either Hope this helps someone.0 -

Just got off the phone to O2 and they have stated that the 800i will be available as from 10am on Thursday 18th August with a price of around £30 for online monthly customers but not for PAYG

I literally just got off the phone with O2. I'm on leisure time (£21pm) and got quoted £100 for this phone. I told them I'd seen it cheaper elsewhere (which thanks to this site I'd done my research first) and they offered it for £49, 2 months free line rental and a bluetooth headset for £25. Just like that, no quibbling or anything.
It's only just come onto their system so they're ringing back in a few days to finalise it all.
Go for it!P.S Wish I'd seen the bit about ringing up from mobile first :doh:When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -
Does the dialling "100" from a mobile really work??
I'm getting totally naffed off with the 0870 number!!!

I phone thursday to upgraded my phone to the W800i, but was told to phone on fiday as it wasn't out untill then, phoned friday, and was told to phone on monday they had no price details yet. Phoned today and was told not out till middle september. :-(
But on the friday was offered the discount 500 package for £25 so was happy, but on the saturday my other half was offered the discount 500 tarif at £20 even though we had both been with o2 for a year, and MY monthy bill were more.
Have sent O2 an email, if they have not replied to it by tommorow I will phone and try again, but if are no help then I will cancel my contract.0
