what about a low APR loan with full flexibility to repay early? Just take
it out and then repay 2k as soon as it is open. The repayments will probably stay higher but if you afford them them it will be pad off quicker too.

Yeh i think i may have to look into that if they dont drop the sudden £95 purchase fee!!

How long do loans take to be processed though? Will i recieve the cash in time before the offer runs out??

Well.. I went into Bristol Street during my lunch break today, and the salesman I usually deal with wasn't in. So I spoke to the other guy, told him I had my deposit sorted, and wanted to proceed with the paperwork and order the car.

When you go back in, speak to the original guy. It sounds like he's dealt with you well enough (although the thread is so long I've lost track of who said what!) and, just like you're trying to save some money, he's just trying to make some. If his work ends up with the commission going to another salesman, he'll bit a bit peeved.

Of course, if you can't get the right deal then walk away, regardless of how much work he's done.

As an aside, I purchased a car in 2001 for somewhere in the region of £26,000, and the deal hung on a £20 accessory. It was a great deal, but there were plenty of other great deals to be made, and I'd set myself a very ambitious but realistic target for negotiations, so discussing an £85 fee on a £6,500 car is probably quite reasonable.

Yeh, i suppose its how much they want the sale. I am quite happy to walk away without purchasing a car!! Its up to them. If i get charged £95, i want something thrown in, like a free service or an extras pack.

I will update you all on how i get on later. Im due to go at about 530. He thinks im doing the deal today!

Well just got back from the dealership.... and i didnt purchase a car!!! Basically the salesman admitted that it was a mistake when he said the last payment charge was £10. It is actually £95.

I told him that i hadnt budgeted for that big charge at the end, and that i would take it out if he was to throw Bluetooth in. He asked his manager, and his manager said no.

He wouldnt even throw in 12 months tax.

The best he could do was a spare remote key, and some new mats. I just said no and walked out.....

Oh well, thanks for all your help!!!
  • You did well to walk away, its principle more than anything.. i wouldn't like to be told something and then told the next day it was not true..

    Happy car Hunting..
