I think the fresh veg is really down to the stores, staff and the managers, some stores appear to be really useless from what I read here, but my one is superb
I have seen the manager going round the veg chucking any dodgy items in the bin, because of this the staff are kept on the ball, and the quality is always good, and turnover followsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
We also found the fruit and veg quality could be dodgy. Their high juice blackcurrant squash is almost as good as ribena, and some of the icecreams were really good (a magnum type choc ice on a stick and a walnut ice cream spring to mind. Lidl are great for mozarella, olive oil, "continental" type cold meats (like the black forest ham) and biccies - I love the german gingerbread stuff they stock over Christmas. My parents used to buy the world's most foul salad dressing from Lidl (Dog urine according to DH) but now mix their own from olive oil and vinegar like I do
The wierd and wonderful trays of miscellaneous non food stuff are always worth a look as well, just don't get carried away and buy too much (this is why we always walk rather than drive there)

in the chiler area the pizzas you nmake yourself are good.they are in a box and all you do is roll out the dough, leave it on the non stick sheet it is on then cover with the jar of tom sauce provided in a wee jar.you have to buy any toppings you fancy but i get the mozzerella, salami, ham, pineapple etc when im in lidl so all works out fairly cheap and i can do bits of pizza to suit everyones taste rather than buying 3-4 diff pizzas.oh i think the box of stuff is £1.49
enjoy!!!

The Lasagne is great. Also their easy iron stuff is very good. Adrift or something.£2 coin/ £460

Avoid the marmalade - so disgusting it ended up in the bin.
The fresh fruit and veg can be good, depends on what you buy though as some of it is OK but the rest goes off really quickly (like the next day).
Their loo roll is really good, you can get recycled for the same price as their 'standard' one. Bin liners are good, strong and cheaper than Mr Tesco.
I haven't been to Lidl for a while, must investigate again!

I really like Lidl and probably do 90% of my shopping there now - I hate going into Mr Ts. Favourite things are: fruit juices, smoothies, fresh soups (tomato & leek and potato), bacon and sausages are really tasty, cold meats, smoked salmon, fish (I have never had a problem with any of their fish, inc MSC fishfingers!) and ice creams/sorbets (Bourbon vanilla has been mentioned before and the small Italian ice creams are to die for!) Also use their own brand shower gels and shampoo/conditioner. Our local store is really great and the staff are very nice and helpful. Fruit and veg is very good on price - you just need to check each pack. If you do this you can't really go wrong. Also found their formil washing liquid really good - as good as premium named brands0

Avoid the cheap soup - very very very salty

I've never had any problems with the fruit and veg,it's always been tip top when I get it from lidl and it's very often half price so good savings to be had too. I did have that problem in Tesco though with mouldy strawbs or peppers being manky inside etc so have stopped buying it altogether from there now cos I live too far away to warrant taking it back for exchange or refund0

Hi all!
Our Lidl doesn't take Credit Cards... it did, but they've refurbished it and now it doesn't - which is a bit of a pain.
We like:
tinned plum tomatoes
noodles / pasta
rice
1.5l cartons of 100% apple juice (87p)
bread
tortilla wraps (for when we don't make our own!)
lasagne (cheap, meaty!)
ice cream
olive oil spread
cheese
yoghurts (Muller Lights often on offer)
chocolate
nachos, salsa
red wine - Bordeaux, £2.95
Veg - Beetroot 16p!
Jam and marmalade (gorgeous lime marmalade 56p, better than Roses!)
Tortellini - fresh pasta, spinach and ricotta or ham - 59p a packet - 2 for £2.50 in Sainsburys - DELICIOUS!
Pesto - 99p
