I love my baked beans and always do my shopping where the best beans are, a few years ago lidl beans were fab (have never found better) then they changed to the most discusting ones I`ve ever tasted. Moved to Tesco then they changed (all juice and no beans) now shop at Asda, the beans are lovely, thick juice and strong tasting beans. Wonder how long it will be before they change their supplier. Did like Lidl stuff though and would go back if only they WOULD CHANGE THIER BEANS!!
  • how odd, I don't mind their beans but I a not a huge bean fan, and I really like their feta cheese and butter!! (the butter is a bit salty, tastes like anchor - so I suppose it depends what you like really!) - I have also had some really good frozen fish from there - specifically the huge sides of frozen salmon with herby toppings, and a cod florentine thing with spinach and cheese sauce.

Their cheeses are good, as are some of the yoghurts (nice probiotic vanilla one with strawberry in the bottom!) Part baked bread is good, as are all the chocolates, unfortunately!! Also the organic tomato ketchup is lovely. They also do organic milk now and free range eggs.

Fruit and veg is good prices, but sometimes you need to delve a bit to get the best bits. Nice bags of british apples, and fairtrade or ordinary bananas too! Their spare ribs from the chiller were nice when we tried them, and I love their mozerella pizzas from the freezer (2 pack) - as someone else sai the coleslaw is good, as is the frozen garlic bread! Jumbo oven chips are tasty - anyway, I cant think of anything I dont like really!

    Don't like:
Powdered hot chocolate, instant coffee _pale_

    Fine with:
    Pretty much everything else
Especially like: herbal and fruit teas, meat, veg, chocolate and quark desserts

Not odd at all, I live in the fens and all the supermarkets are at least 15mls in opposite directions. I buy all my veg from roadside stalls and most of my other food from my local shop and market. I make one trip a month to the supermarket to buy tinned food and other groceries, cleaning stuff etc so best beans wins the supermarket cash prize :-)

Lidl naan breads are really good value compared to others - good too.

The tinned beans and spaghetti I have had were vile. Not sure if they are their regular brands though as only shop Lidl occasionally.

  • I second the prosecco actually, OH came home with some last week to celebrate a minor triumph I had at work
    (isn't he such a sweetie!!! :))

I like bubbly, and drink a fair bit of the good stuff (not OS i know, but its my only weakness... ish... i promise!) , but the Lidl stuff was on a par. Excellent quality for buttons...

*note to self... send OH back for boxes of it...*

Really love their washing liquid for clothes - concentrated one, think it is called formula or formil or something - green coloured anyway.
Also like jam, bin liners, chocolate, yoghurts

A new store has just opened near me and being a nosy mare like I am I couldnt resist a mooch around.I dont think its any cheaper than Asda and tbh it felt very like Aldi but I got some interesting stuff to try and having got some fresh strawberries home I now know why everyone says to avoid the fresh veg as they were half rotten:mad: .The kids have tried out the fromage frais yogs and they loved them so would buy them again.I got some salami and mozzarella so will be making pizzas later in the week and at 49p each I thought the mozzarella was a bargain.Hubby bought some of the energy drinks and he's taken a couple to work so will be waiting for his reaction.I've got a couple of jars of the jam to try and my needless treat was a huge Black Forest Gateaux and if its any good I'll get a couple for the freezer as it was only £2.49.

I couldnt do a whole monthly shop here but it is well worth a visit for a top up shop
