any ideas for a funeral song?

I attended the funeral of a very happy gregarious person who chose the song for her service: I can see clearly now (the rain is gone). It was a very uplifting moment in the funeral when this came on and seemed very appropriate. I think it is by Jimmy Cliff or Bob Marley (both have done versions) - there have been many different versions though if you don't fancy the reggae one.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

Sorry for your loss.
I once went to a funeral and they played REM 'Everybody Hurts', it can be found on youtube, and is a lovely track.0 -
if its for your your BIL there must be a widow (i'm presuming).
there are usually two songs, one in one out so to speak. perhaps one in could be something he would have loved and one out something for the widow.
the outward song i had for my DH was 'thank you for the days' sung by kirsty mccoll. it was an expression of my feelings for him.0 -
Sorry for your loss
My grandad had Amazing Grace as one of his songs, it was very fitting as he had been a bit of a rebel in his younger days!:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009

I quite agree - as is "everybody hurts" which has been suggested. Anyone plays those at my funeral and I'll come back to haunt the bastages!!!

Sorry for your loss.
I went to a funeral last month and they played 'Angels' by Robbie Williams, we all agreed it was a lovely choice. But as with all songs its individual choice and I am sure what ever is chosen will be fitting.Cashpricezac-Yorkshire:j

Sorry for your loss.
Two songs that strike a chord with me are Jane Siberry's "Calling all angels" and Marvin Gaye's Version of "Abraham, Martin and John"0 -
"Uninvited" by Alanis Morrisette is a beautiful song, i'm not normally a fan of hers but it's a song i'd want.

When my Granddad died he requested My heart will go on by Celine Dion and boy does that song have a totally different meaning to me now, the lyrics are really touching.Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0
