    Hi.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I would like 'Free as a Bird' by The Beatles played at my funeral. The words are nice and quite fitting.

How about John Lennons "Imagine". Or just play a cheerful piece of instrumental music.
Yes,I was going to suggest that too.My brother took a stereo to the church to play this for my dads funeral,he was only 46 when he died.

I remember reading a list of songs that are popular for funerals, but that seems inappropriate.

What was his favourite music, favourite concert he'd been to, perhaps a title song from his favourite comedy? Would he want everyone to be sombre, or remember the happiness they felt when they were with him?

I'm 38 and I think no matter what age I leave this world at, I'd have 'At my most beautiful' and 'It's the end of the world as we know it' at my funeral. Both by REM, and both mean a lot to me and my dearest ones.

 The OP stated that because of the older folks at the funeral it didn't feel right to play anything too 'funny' at the funeral.

I have told my OH that I would like Jose Feliciano singing 'In my life' by The Beatles to be played at my funeral as I think it's beautiful.
