There could also be another avenue here if the RM confirms that the item has been delivered and signed for at the address written wrongly by the seller. At this point if your hubby makes an enquiry at the address and the occupants deny knowledge of the item, report the matter to Police as theft. Inform the RM of the action as any Police investigation will need to identify the Postie as a witness of identification over who signed for the parcel.

The seller has just emailed me.

It now appears he DID in fact send it to my correct address   so now Im back to square one. And the message in paypal no longer applies.

Item is still showing as tracked but no electronic signature showing. Seller did say he got insurance. BUt how will he claim if item is showing as being delivered to the right address?

hubby thinks he might be lying but he says he has receipt to verify this. Plus although it doesnt show online, RM should have details of address this parcel was sent to right? AND is it a coincidence that southdown crescent exists in my town or not??? (I live on south park crescent)

nope RM do not keep a note of addresses. deal with far to many to input them im afraid.
maybe when the new pda's go national

is the other address in the same postcode area as you?
  • so say the seller is lying and did in fact send to southdown where do I stand a chance of getting either the item or my money? I could cry right now!

    its the numbers that matter

so for edinburgh its EH,and you have EH1,EH2 etc
so if it says delivered from your local office they must cover both postcodes.
so go down to the delivery office with your tracking number.
explain the situation and ask them to track and trace it and then follow the audit trail to see what duty it was allocated to.
by seeing the allocated duty this will let you know where it went(to a degree) by what roads are covered by the allocated duty

For paypal purposes the silver receipt the seller has must be stamped and show *your* address. If it does that then he is likely to win a paypal claim, if the silver receipt shows any other address then you will win.

This is a dreadful situation, if by any chance the post office have delivered it to the wrong address and have had it signed for then they will have cost you this item, but you have no proof. The signature does not really matter as all paypal want is the tracking to the confirmed paypal address..that makes sense if you think about it as they do not hold your signature to check. I believe in the past that people have said that post men should take id before handing over parcels but I have certainly never been asked. Anyway my 'buying' name is not the same as my real name..so I always sign in my married name which often does not match the buying name.

Sorry about the second post..I am trying to think what to do here.

I think if I were the OP I would be tempted to phone paypal and explain that the seller seem suncelar where he sent the parcel and you are worried that he will not have to show the receipt..let them know they must ask for a copy of the silver slip.

rm's uso doesnt cover this as its delivered to an address.
the name is irrelevant and no courier requires proof of id at the door.
if it was brought in it would mostly raise prices given the increased times at the door.
end of the day the po should be checking the delivery address and SD reciept address is the same peventing any issues over addresses
