Item is tracking as being received via special delivery but I havent received it!

I have typed this 4 times now and every time I have pressed send the page has gone to error. I could cry!

OK Im going to do it one more time. I bought an item for £700. I asked seller to post on Sat to receive on Monday. No reply and no item so I email. No reply till this evening. Seller gives me tracking for signed for delivery. I track item and its showing as received. But I haven’t received the item. I cant get in touch with RM till tomorrow. The item could be at the wrong address. I live in a square where all the roads begin with the same first name but end in road/terrace/ crescent/drive. There is no electronic proof showing signature plus I don’t know if seller insured the item to its full value.

What can I do? I don’t know if its too early to start a dispute so as to freeze the funds in the seller’s accounts as it’s my only way of getting my money back if the item never turns up. Thing is I don’t want to mess around with the seller as he seems nice and Ive bought from him before.

If he has insurance then he shouldn’t mind but I really don’t know.

Can anyone please advise? Shall I wait till tomorrow?
Kind regards! TIA

Great Im the first one to reply!

I now know I cant open a dispute straight away. I can only reverse the transaction but that’s not following the procedure properly. Any other suggestion?

get down to your local PO tomorrow and have words. take the tracking number & proof of address and ask them to try and find out where it is and if they can provide the proof of delivery (signature etc.)

it might just be that your postie has gotten mighty confused and delivered it else where and it could be sat in someone's hallway.

don't panic, i know it's a lot of money, but try not to get worked up, that's the last thing you want to happen as it'll just exaserbate (spelt incorrectly) the situation and cause undue stress.

and you did reply only 7 minutes after your original post, give us a chance :p

    I assume we're talking paypal?

Does the RM site show the area of delivery?
    Does your seller look legit?
Did you fund the payment with a credit card?

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

also, does the RM website say it's been delivered from your local depot? i had a similar problem once where the sender had sent out several items on the same day and sent me the wrong number.

    Thanks to you both
Yes paypal. Not credit card as had enough funds in my account. Seller def looks legit so don’t want to mess him around but Im really worried he might not have taken enough insurance out!

righto, well as i say, it looks like the seller is legit and telling the truth, so it might have been delivered to the wrong house on your square. check with your neighbours either side in the morning (or tonight if they dont mind you knocking this late)

If the seller has not covered the full value and it results in a claim I would imagine its his place to cover the difference.
