Just a thought and maybe I'm wrong.....but would it be advisable for us all (if we have a cc) to use a cc on such a high value purchase to cover ourselves in an event like this even if we have sufficient funds in PP?
Not a dig at you OP, just wondering for my own future reference really.
Absolutely - except that if you have funds in your account, it won't let you use a credit card.
You can get around this by paying the money in your account to a friend, (setting paypal balance to 0) making the large purchase using your card, then getting friend to refund you.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Thanks. As I typed it I wondered if you already had the money there if it would let you use the cc. Now I know

thanks, didnt think of the cc thing - isnt that an echeque though meaning takes days and days to clear?
Update: nothing at the 'wrong' address but helpful girl said she would call. There is a terrace on the same road so hubby knocked there. Again nothing but guy looked a little sheepish - who knows?!
RM say they cant do much, sender needs to put a claim in but obviously its his fault if he sent to wrong address. Also told me to look at electronic copy of signature but it's not showing yet.
sigh, will just have to wait. seller seems to be at work as hasnt responded.0 -

whom did you speak to ?
rm customer service or the delivery office?
again have you checked the status? sellers going to struggle to claim given the item has been delivered(not your problem)
one worry/issue is that the po made sure the address on the package and SD slip matched so it proves it went to the 'correct' wrong addresss0 -
The seller is totally at fault here. He should have copied and pasted the address from paypal and increased the compensation level to £1000 it's only 55p more.0

Have you spoken to your postman yet? That would be my first port of call along with the delivery office.
Not sure if I agree with Kevinyork to keep things ticking over I would expect a buyer to at least approach the sorting office. To say it isn't your problem is just being difficult.
You really didn't need to start a dispute so quickly and I persobally would have held off a bit. Starting a dispute will just irritate the seller at this early stage a bit more communication and working with the seller would be in order.
Fortuantely we have great posties and since all my items go out via the sorting office they normally can tell me if I have any SD arriving that day.0 -
Same thing happened with me but I received my special delivery item 2 weeks later.
Tracking number claims I received my item on time which is utter tosh.
It was all down to royal mail and their sloppy service, took ages to try and get compensation, gave up in the end too much hassle.0 -

Sorry to hijack the thread OP and I hope you get it quickly resolved....but.....but would it be advisable for us all (if we have a cc) to use a cc on such a high value purchase to cover ourselves in an event like this even if we have sufficient funds in PP?
I thought this and am buying an item in excess of £1500, but First Direct have written to me the following:When making a mail order it is beneficial to use a Credit Card and in most cases we can assist if the goods are not received, faulty on delivery or not as described etc. When making a purchase over £100 with your card you have the added benefit of Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If we cannot assist under Visa Regulations then we would use the CCA to resolve any dispute.
However, when you pay (with you CC) via a third party money transfer such as paypal, we cannot guarantee any successful dispute. This is because the agreement is between you and the seller and the agent (Paypal) is contracted to transfer the funds between the two, therefore they fulfill their obligation. Any dispute in these circumstances would need to be dealt with via their internal disputes process.
This is for their First Direct Gold Visa and may be the same (or different
) so worth checking and having the reply in writing if the item is of any value.
I hope that helps.0
