Happy St. Patrcik's Day everyone :j Nothing more frustrating than living in England when you know the family back home are already drunk and debating the best hangover cure for the following day.:D

Hi all, Have had a busy day -- my DH and I are driving to Torbay (90mn drive) and staying in a 4* hotel all inclusive, Free Bar !!! Have changed bedding as I love to come home to fresh sheets. All the cleaning done cases packed and am just waiting to collect him at 4pm from a course he is on. I found this brill deal in the Daily Express B&B packed lunch and a 3 course dinner all drinks for £120 each so thought I would spoil us and do it.
I haven't been able to get my laptop up and running as I'm waiting for the wireless thingy to arive so I am going cold turkey until Saturday when we return.
Will look forward to catching up with you all.
Special thoughts to those in need of TLC. :j0 -
MARTYN - I think I must have had a sheltered upbringing but what on earth are the 'Bill and Bens'?!
Call me old-fashioned if you will but I refuse to ask a lady her age. However, by my powers of deduction, (and looking at your profile
) i think you may just be old enough to remember Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot Men. Imagine how they used to talk to each other, then try writing it down  For the past few days, every time I type, that's just what it looks like  The simplest sentences are taking me an age to type. I started this post at 3 o'clock
and I've deleted it twice 'coz it just didn't make sense.
I'm quite happy to think that I might finally be losing it because for a lot of years, I never even realised I actually had it :rotfl:

Hi everyone and especially the knitters and crocheters! The squares thread has been re-opened but instead of exchanging personal details, for obvious reasons, the MSE team would rather we agreed on a charity and sent the squares to that charity. We had more or less decided on Help The Aged but I would rather that was a joint choice. If you are all happy with that, I will find out details, etc. Judging by the response when this idea was first launched, I rather suspect we will have squares for more than one blanket; I will let you know when I have found out more.
All the details are on the Squares Thread.
Thanks, you wonderful bunch!

I went to the local charity shop and got two different sizes of size 8 needles - the 8MM ones are much fatter than the other ones.
Am I right in thinking it is the 8MM ones to be used?
Was going to start on a square tonight but would hate to find out that the charity wanted a different size etc.
Just waiting for DD to get back from school and make her something to eat and then going to the library to take books back before making something for rest of the family.
We have already scoffed most of the pea soup in the slow cooker. Had to go and buy leeks to make potato and leek soup tomorrow."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all
HUGS TO ALL WHO WANT ONE, seems to be so many people who are down at the mo or ill.
Happy St. Patricks day by the way, sorry I forgot it this morning, it's also my uncles birthday (think he's 83), will call him later.
Leftovers were very nice for lunch. Am I the only person who has a yorkshire pud obsession, I could just die for them dipped in thick, beef gravy
. DS has a friend around at the moment and karate later. I do find seven-year olds so amusing.
Someone was asking about bathing when you've had an op. Depends how soon after it is. If it's been a week then it shouldn't be too much of a problem, sorry I can't remember your name, it's been a long day! I wouldn't use bubble bath tho.
PENPEN what a job, are they allowed to advertise it! Could be less stressful than nursing!!!!
Have a good evening all.

I often have bill and ben moments - combined with the ever more frequent blonde moments, it's fun in my world

Nothing to report - apart from mucking out DD's rooms I've done nothing and intend to keep it that way

The size of the needles is irrelevant, just cast on using the needles you prefer until the length is 8" and then keep knitting until it is 8" high.

Help the Aged is fine with me, and could be more MS, as we can probably drop them into our local stores, rather than costing postage. I wonder who they will get to sew them together??

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0
