OS 17th March 2008 - St Patrick's Day!!

Top o'the morning to you all!!! oooooo.....hang on while I get the sticky....

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17 march. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Just in case you hadn't realised it's St.Patrick's Day! Woo hoo!!! I'm celebrating by going to wo*k as usual and doing nothing out of the ordinary...not really a celebration I know.... It's a whole year since AussieLass and AussieLaddie were here in the Emerald Isle making thier first ever visit to myself and Pink.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, life has been too boring to report. I suppose I could invent something just to spice things up - maybe tomorrow.

Smokey - you and Eric are in my thoughts.

Bye all

Snowy

Hello everyone. I've been back for a while and lurking, but this is the first time I've been around to post on the first page of the daily thread. That's only because my body clock is all over the shop and I'm currently printing a manuscript that an editor has asked for.

    HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY everyone.

On Thursday I had all good intentions and made a chicken casserole - ate 1, froze 3. On Friday I was going to do the same with a spag bol, but I got tonsillitis and stayed in bed instead. And stayed there for the entire weekend. So, today, Monday, I'm going to get up earlyish, have a good old clean and tidy - the house and me - I'm going to make that spag bol for tea, and freeze 3. And I have to take some letters and this package up to the post office. Might pin the pedometer on while I'm at it.

    Morning all,

Aussie and Snowy, it was a great weekend last March....like both of you I can't believe it's been a whole year! How we all survived on four hours sleep I have no idea!

Smoky, I really wish we could help more. Like everyone else I am thinking of you Eric and the children every day. Take care. xxx

I haven't been keeping up with the daily as I normally do because I've been tied up with work and stuff at home but hoping to take a breather today as I have the day off. Ds1 and Dd are both off school for St Patrick's day, but they're both going to watch the School's Rugby Cup final so I shouldn't really notice any difference. Poor Ds2's school is business as usual so he isn't a happy bunny.

I'm planning a day of tidying up as I've been at work all weekend. If the weather's bad I'll do some baking, if it's good I'll spend some time in the garden. I have sausages to use up so sausages, mash, broccoli and onion gravy for tea.

    Have a good day,

    Pink

Good morning..............and the top o'the morning to all on St Patricks Day!!

    ((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) if you need one..........

Cannot sleep for some reason, its a while since I was up on the computer at 2am......

Watched Dancing on Ice last night, was so hoping that Suzanne Shaw would win........................Yay..................her flying routine had me in tears too, it was so lovely.

Today we gird our loins and go to collect some horse manure for the allotment. We no longer have a tow bar on the car, so we will have to protect the back with plastic and put the manure into plaggy bags, hope it doesn't wiff too much, will let you know later how we get on.

Right, off to surf the net for a while and then try and get some sleep.......cheers for now............

hope everyone is well, i am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but st. patricks day was on the 15th (sat) this year due to it having to be moved because it conflicted with the church week.
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

    Morning all.

SMOKY - thinking of you and hoping that today is a better day for you, Eric and the LOs.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

RE: SQUARES THREAD - just to let you all know the situation so far - the thread for this has been closed while it is being referred to make sure it doesn't break any rules. It will take a couple of days before we know the outcome. It would be great if it goes ahead but, if it doesn't, then the response from so many people wanting to contribute has been incredible and heartwarming and that's an achievement in itself!

I will post again on this when I know more.

Well, I know St Patrick's Day was moved to the 15th this year but, to those of you celebrating it today, have a good one.

Not much to report today. I have to go to the sorting office to pick up a package that needs signing for; I was out when the postman called on Saturday and missed it. I shall also go to the gym straight after because it's on the same route. I'm now half way through sorting out all my fabrics and other bits and pieces - I don't know why I thought I could get it all done in a morning, these things always take longer that you expect, don't they? I have also found the mini-sewing machine I bought years ago and have never used - I shall set that up and see if I can get it going. I'm not very good with sewing machines so, if I can't get the thing to work, I may look for one of those Singer machines that Haribo bought for Pink-Winged recently.

Dinner is bubble-and-squeak, sausages and, of course, beans because they go with it so well.

Anyway, off to get the breakfast ready and DH's sndwiches.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    Morning all

Wish I could get a decent nights sleep. Cats are driving me nuts, I have no catflap and they always insisit on waking me up to go out  . Don't know what I'm going to do with them, on the plus side of the summer is that little cat insists on staying out all night.

Lunch today will be leftovers from Sunday's dinner. Am going out with the girls tonight for an Italian. Looking forward to it if I can stay awake. Other plans include studying and a quick trip to Lidl.

SMOKEY HUGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

HUGS to anyone else who needs one.

    Have a good day all

Another day at work - still I have a lovely long weekend to look forward to ;)

Packed lunches are made (leftover chicken and stuffing baps), tea tonight will be swedish meatballs and mash.

One wash load of ironing to do, and bathroom to clean tonight. Am making a batch of simnel muffins for one of the girls at work - it's her birthday on Wednesday.

Have a lovely OS day everyone (((((hugs)))))

    Hugs to Smokey.
Off to work soon, Katy's been up all night on the phone, she's in a right state worrying about what's going to happen today. She's realised that if she gets the sack today she will not get another job in the UK & so all her Aunty's plans go out the window. I don't think she believes it is her fault, she sees it as being the kids behaviour that caused it. TBH I just can't wait for her to go, I'm so tired, I know it was partly down to watching the GP, but I do that every year, most of todays tiredness is because I had so little sleep last night as she was on the phone all night & is still on it now!
    Have a good one.
    Hugs Hester
