Hi ClaireNot been on as often as I would like as our 9 year old has been off school, lots of bugs going around at the minute. Plus my husband is off sick so he has been hogging the pc.Sharon
Glad you are okay .. yuk about OH and 9 yr old being ill.. hope they get better soon.
My loaves are doing great, got to go get more bread flour today. I make 2 or 3 every day, either for us or for my mum & dad0 -

Don't know if you have an Asda near you Claire but have read that there is an offer on Hovis bread flour, half price at the minute.
They reckon flour prices are going to shoot up so I think I may get a couple of extra bags each time I go shopping and stick them in the 2nd freezer to keep the flour beetles away.
We have load of spare room in that freezer, only used to use it mainly for stocking up on cheap bread, don't need to do that anymore.0 -
Ohh thanks for that Sharon, think I may too put a few bags in the freezer... seems everything is shooting up in price doesnt it...
seems strange our local co-op doesnt stock bread flour because in their words there isnt a demand for it, but tescos are nealy always sold out of whichever one is on offer...
My asda would cost me quite a bit to get to so Im stuck with Tescos which is nearby or Morrisons when Im in town0 -
Hi It's a bit late now but I will post the recipes for the medium and large loaves tomorrow if you like.:)Sharon
Yes please Sharon, I'd appreciate that.
My third loaf - using the manual has turned out better than the previous two, well, it has risen:rolleyes:. Was it a case of third time lucky or, that I was out whilst it was baking, so wasn't constantly opening the lid for a peek!

Im sure there will be some left then or another will be available somewhere, they seem to be coming down in price in some places.

Just read on another thread to decant the flour into a plastic tub before you put it in the freezer, otherwise the bag will go soggy when you take it out.:)I buy my white bread flour from Lidl, 48p for 1.5kg if you have one of those near you.0 -

Sorry, don't know what I have done wrong but I typed the ingredient list as normal but it's not putting any spaces in for some reason!:(0 -

Thanks Sharon, this will be my next loaf.
Another disaster today, (I didn't open the lid this time, honest!) I was baking a granary loaf from a ready mix - two for £1 at Asda. It rose beautifully but, the next time I looked (through the glass window) the top had collapsed and sunk in!!
Hey ho!
