Just a thought but does the type of crust make a difference re ease of cutting???? The porridge one last night was a bit more difficult to cut. I used medium setting TBH I'm not sure which setting I should use when!!!!
Ive had the sultanas soaking in orange juice all day and am goin to make another fruit loaf and more bun dough tonight, will having soaked the fruit mean that I need to adjust the amount of fluid....hmmmm will soon find out!!!!!
(edit) think am goin to have my first disaster, put the fruit in and there's slurping noises comin from the thing!!!!! all looks a bit gloopy!!!!!!
another edit......nope no disaster yet, kitchen smells fruity and fruit loaf ....well first slice anyway....lovely, looks good, feels good and tastes good......when I heard the gloopy noises coming cos the dough looked and felt too wet I just grabbed the flour and chucked some more in until started to look better,
still no brioche and didnt do the bun dough
was on another pizza thread and someone mentioned they roll the pizza dough out and then wrap in tin foil to freeze, might try this to keep the pizza(ish) shapecheerio hen0 -
Morning OS'ers.
Has anyone tried making bread rolls?
Wheres Sharon when I need her lol....
I just wondered if you used the knead setting then straight away formed them into balls or do you have to leave it a while and how long should I cook them for please....

I made rolls the other day, they were ok, but i was using one of the recipes from the booklet which are a bit pants, will make more today with sharons recipe:D
I did them on the dough setting, took it out, cut them into 8 i think? Gave them a quick knead then shaped them, popped them on a baking tray and covered. Leave them until they double in size, pop them in the oven for 15-20 mins. When cooked they should sound hollow when you tap the base.

Hi Claire
Nice to see someone has missed me!
I've had a bad back, conjuctivitis (or however you spell it) now I have a bad cough!
Hence not been surfing as much as I would like.
Sorry Claire, I havent't made any bread rolls before but I am going to give them a try this week.
Off to make some light brown bread for our daughter's lunch tomorrow.
Never thought I would see the day when she would take brown bread to school with her.0 -

Just a quick update, made rolls yesterday using Sharons recipe for a basic white loaf. OMG, they were yummy:D The dough made enough for 8 small (perfect kids size) rolls, or 6 adult rolls. Will definately be doing more of these. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Made another loaf last night, going to try the rolls today. I've not used Sharons recipe yet, I've been using the one in the manual. Going to give hers a try today! I can almost smell it already..............Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0
