This is probably a dumb question, but how would the bread turn out if you used normal flour??Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0

Not very well i dont think
Someone has talked about this before and i cant remember the reason though.

I'm sure there is a reason for it. I was just curious/nosy. ;-)Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0

I've got the recipe for banana bread, thought I'd got all the stuff from the shop but it says I need dried milk powder and wholemeal bread flour, which I haven't got. Does anyone know if I can use ordinary milk and white bread flour instead?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

As stated, not very well. The reason is lack of gluten in "soft" flour, which is why "hard" flour is used for breadmakingEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Made a beautiful loaf over the weekend with fresh yeast.
This is how I did it - not necessarily the perfect answer, but it worked. This is a small loaf.
Put 180ml hot (but ok to touch) water in a glass with 15gr (stuff the tablespoon measure full) of fresh yeast and 1tbsp of granulated sugar.
Once fizzing and foamy (after 25mins in my case) add the yeast/water mix to the bread maker, then add 135ml cold water.
Add 480g white bread flour.
Add 1tbsp olive oil, 1 1/2 tsp salt.
Hit start (the timer won't work and it must be started immediately.
Hopefully this should work for you - to be honest I wasn't 100% sure what I was doing but worked it out from other people's comment.0 -

Yes, thats what I use when I make banana bread. I find the wholemeal way too heavy for it, I add just a splash of ordinary milk taking into account the rest of the wet ingredients."To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill" Sun Tzu0 -
I have thought about freezing my pizza dough but thought about just freezing it as balls of dough instead of rolling it out - could this work?
Mine are they shape they're supposed to be either - mine rolled out to a sort of rectangle shape :rotfl: still tasted scrummy though!
I was going to freeze the balls but thought it might be quicker to roll the bases out first, bit of a faff though so will probly just freeze in balls next timecheerio hen0 -
This one sounds nice! Do you just put the porridge oats in with the flour? I think the banana bread recipe looks nice. Got a basic white in at the mo, going to get some honey from the shop and have a go at the banana one mmmmmm.........
Hya the first time I tried it I put the oats in at the beginning and it was lovely, this time I added when the machine beeped , was nice but this loaf was a wee bit more chewy, don't know if it was adding the oats then or something else I did !!!!!!cheerio hen0 -
I'll put them in first then - got a banana bread in which will be ready in half an hour. Smells nice but will wait and see! I used all white instead of part white and part wholemeal. Put in a splash of milk instead of dried powder and then put it on 700g light crust prog1. Thinking about it I may have been better putting it on medium crust but we'll see!Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0
