  • I could literally kick myself for not looking at this earlier!
My car collected 4 June08 at THEIR request.
Two weeks later.. THEIR approved garage has not had any authorisation to start the work even after several attempts to contact Swift.
Customer Service response - "the engineer is still assessing your claim"
Asked to speak to a supervisor..... response .... NO .

Well its true .... you get what you pay for hey?

    CAUTION!

    Swift! anything but!
Avoid Avoid Avoid, they maybe cheap but you get what you pay for.

    1. Recently had a claim, the garage fixing my car took 3 weeks numerous unreturned phones calls, arrogant unhelpful staff (Swift & garage) I only had a damaged bumper. Car brought back unroad worthy had to back again. You may think this is down to the garage partly, Swift only do estimates from pictures apparently so part of the damage was missed (damn the 1 meg camera phone!)

    2. Recently changed my address to a lower insurance area, Swift are not able to update the new postcode because they haven't yet purchased the new database, when I say new I mean 2007! so still paying double what I should be.

    3. Recently changed my car to a lower insurance group docs suppose to be instantly printable, but wait for they aren't updated for at least 48hrs. You can email the customer support team :rotfl:haa haa sides are splitting!!!!! to let them know immediate cover is required. Well if it stated that in the first place I wouldn't have left it till 24hrs before I picked up the new car.

Swift cover have left a bitter sour taste
Swift at taking your money though
Can't wait to get rid providing my claim isn't still open in 10mth time!!!!!!!:wall:
  • i have recently cancelled a policy with swift cover, i found the service was great and easy to use but i recently bought a bigger car which they said they couldn't insure me on because of my age. however on the plus side of that it was very simple to cancel my policy and get my proof of no claims from them

i work in the industry, and whilst they may be 'cheap' from the people i speak to, you pay for what you get.....no direct contact unless you want to cancell, a VERY basic policy. i tried to get a quote on their website last year and got a warning that their privacy software was out of date, I havent been back and never will be.

    Cheap, but rubbish!

Their website does not have a cancellation option either, meaning you have to ring an 0871 number to cancel it. However when its cancelled they go after you with threatening letters claming you owe money on the policy. Which is nice if they can get it...

I know, how can you manage to lose your insurance company.
    The short story is...
We had a car that was insured through ASDA, then we changed to Kwikfit.
We bought our second car last year and insured it through ASDA.
The tax ran out on the car at the end of June and luckily my wife spotted this and uses the first car to get about.e
My wife cannot find any papers associated with the brand new car (as of last June 2007)
The problem is, after asking ASDA and Kwikfit if we can have a copy of the insurance policy, they both said NO. ASDA said they had records of insuring the 2nd car (VW Eos) but that was stopped on 3rd April this year.
Neither of us can remember changing!
The man at ASDA said (I hope jokingly) that we would have to wait until next April to find out who it is when we get a reminder about the insurance. We cannot put the car back on the without Road Tax. The man at ASDA told us we cannot even buy new insurance at it is illegal to have the car insured by two companies.
I work in Russia (eastern Coast +10 hours in front of UK) and find it difficult to phone around the UK.
Do insurance companies have a central data base where they can check who is covering our car? Surely the first thing an insurance inspector would do is to find out WHO IS insured twice.

Please help us to get the car back on the road
PS we don't pay by SO/DD and I can't find a trace of money being paid to a car insurer on any statement.
    Cheers

Presumably you have sorted this by now?
The answer is YES there is a central database of car insurance and this is used when you try to renew your tax disc on-line.

Do not touch Swiftcover with a bargepole.

They took 9 days to return a telephone message, 11 days to arrange a courtesy car, then returned my vehicle with numerous faults all of which they claim no liability for.

When I complained they kindly called to say that I could keep my courtesy car for an extra two days. Unfortunately they decided to inform me of this at 1633 on the final day of my hire period, knowing full well that the deadline for returning it had been 1630 so there was no way I'd still be in possession of it.

32 days later, I'm still waiting for my car to be returned, and will then have to take it to be repaired at my own expense.
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done
