  • I thought that i would be saving money too, but no, they are not all that cheap but the worst thing is their service. It is TERRIBLE, it has been an absolute nightmare. They are really bad with communicating with you either by email or by phone, and are generally unhelpful when they do finally get in touch.

Someone crashed into my car 3 months ago and they have still not sorted anything out, finally they just resently took my car into a garage to fix it, for days i did not hear anything about the progress of my car until the garage phoned me and said that they really needed my courtesy car back, they were so shocked to hear that swiftcover had not even bothered to tell me that my car was a total writeoff becasue the garage had told them that within a day of recieving that car. Then to top it all off, when i contacted swiftcover to ask what was happening they said that it was not their responsibility to provide me with a replacement courtesy car and they wouldn't give me back my old car- so i would be car-less!!!!. Instead they gave me some numbers and told me to sort it out myself with the thirdpary.

When i rang the third party - LV - they were so friendly!!! - and they were so suprised that i was ringing up to arrange things myself, they said that usually the insurers would take care of all of the behind the scenes work.

Anyway - it is not an exaggeration - THEY ARE SOOOOOOO BAD, as soon as my insurance runs out i am going to take my business elsewhere!!!!!

    hope this helps

The government's records show that I am driving around uninsured.

No they don't. A lack of a positive match on MID does not mean that you are considered uninsured. It only means that further enquiries should be made. The Certificate of Motor Insurance is still ultimately the only proof of cover.

Anyone in the car insurance business like to comment on how long it takes to update the official records ?

At the moment, for private motor insurance insurers are required to supply 95% of MID data within 14 days. This is to be amended to 95% of data within 7 days in January 2008.

This has to be the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
They never reply to any written correspondence and their phone lines are always busy.
When you do finally get through, the service ranges from seemingly helpful to absolutely inept.
The result, however, is the same.
After 3 months of being d*cked around and still no resolution , I've had enough.
No wonder their quotes are so cheap. They'll take your money, and then, when it's time to make a claim, they'll leave you twisting in the wind.
You'll rue the day you ever made a claim with these guys.
    Stay clear of them.
Their slogan is "Click Click, don't Cluck Cluck"
It should be more like "Click Click, and f*ck off".
This is a test post to see if it works!
  • Just another test to see if this works. Did try to post comprehensive reply but it got lost!
  • Do NOT underestimate how much Swiftcover will let you down. It is a wonder that they are allowed to trade, their customer service is disgraceful in the extreme. Do not expect to be told the truth, or have your calls and emails answered. I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman as S*itcover are still mucking me about after 8 months of complaints.
If you get your car insurance here then you are handing over your money and insurance to a bunch of primary school children. It will utterly stress you out. They cannot even update an address correctly.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • cheap cover crap at everyting else my car got broken into theives stole sat nav, bag of clothes, personal items can only claim £100 still waiting 3 months later for repairs to car. swift dont reply to emails, dont answer phone basicly dont care
would not reccomend or use ever ever again
  • Almost 2 months after making a claim I am still trying to get my claim approved. My wife was driving the car when it get caught in a flood and the engine got flooded. Admittedly I forgot to declare 3 points on my licence when I took out my claim but I don't see how they can refuse to honour the claim on this basis.

They have an incredible ability to lose documents, faxes, even recorded delivery letters. During this time the condition of the car has deteiorated whilst we've been waiting for the claim decision.

Does anyone have some advice on what to do here to get the claim paid or compensation for the delays in giving a decision
  • The OH has a bad crash last year third party at fault this was december 06, the claim is still on going at this time and its affected her renewal so much so she has been forced to renew with swiftcover for 07-08 due to the claim not yet being settled. They are a very bad insurance company and their prices reflect that.
It took us 6 months to get our excess back with interest i may add but they are a company to steer well clear of. Companies underwritten by UK insurance (DL Tesco etc) seem to be well on the ball due to their experienced staff and procedures they are well worth the extra in the long run.

I've had nothing but ball-ache since somone shunted me into the [now, quite rightly] claiming 3rd party.

I submitted 7 (that's right, 7!) Incident Reports (via mail, email, fax) before they did anything with them. The penultimatae one I sent was by recorded delivery (yet couldn't be located), and the final was by Special Delivery which they STILL didn't ackowledge receipt of (Royal Mail has to investigate).

In my opinnion, I'd stay well away.

On the other hand, I spoke to the 3rd party's insurer Liverpool Victoria, and they were excellent!
  • My dh has just made a claim with swiftcover and had no problems, we got a courtesy car and everything has gone through ok. The repairs did take awhile to do but it was due to the garage getting the parts etc.
