And even if you went third party, and handled claims against third parties yourself you wouldn't get them to pay for uneconomical repairs on your car, and would have the same problem regarding write offs.

Yes but it is still your car, you can go down to a scrap yard and unbolt a replacement bumper - fix it with extra long bolts and lots of washers and the car looks like it is back to square one. In spite of the rear end crunch?

DO NOT TOUCH WITH A VERY LONG BARGEPOLE!!!!!

Hubby had accident 23/03 (his fault, never disputed this, no-one else involved) today some ten weeks later they are still uhhming and ahhing whether to repair it on not, they are useless, we are not being kept in touch in any way. I really wanted them to repair this car, it's really nice but I am getting to the point where I just want them to do SOMETHING even if it means writing it off as we are paying £300+ per month for a car that has been in the workshop since March.

They are utterly useless, just wish someone would take ownership and make a decision on this.

Their waiting message should be more like: Please hold, our operators are busy passing the buck, please wait whilst we pass yours...

I feel slightly better now but blimey will someone have their ear bent tomorrow!!!

    my 2p worth
i had a very minor acc/bump in oct LAST YEAR(2008) the other party even gave a statement to the police at the time bassically saying it was her fault and she admitted this to me at the time ,we exchanged full details and it was all very straighr forward:rolleyes:.after returning home she changed her story and proceeded to claim against me ,telling loads of lies in the process.her ins co have chased this up ,and thir letters/etc have came to ME stating theyv had no responce from shitcover.the latest developement is iv received a summons as the other parts ins are sueing MEfor not adressing this claim !!!!!!:mad:numerous e-mails have been sent to them telling them everything ,iv forwarded all correspondence that iv received, only to be repeadetly told "its all being dealt with ,just forward it all on to us"theyve had more than enough time and its obv still ongoing .i am thoroughly unimpressed with the servive and i will def not be renewing with swiftcover as a minor bump (bearing in mind that i fixed my car myself as it was so minor)that should have been sorted out in a month say ,is still ongoing after 8-9 months is shocking ,
    GO ELSEWHERE
    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED:mad:
  • Do normally post on this site but I really want to warn people off using Swiftcover.
I was driven into from the rear by another driver a month ago and and followed the normal procedure. Initially things seemed ok however apart from one phone call to discuss the incident and getting my care repaired I have not heard a thing form them.
I have sent numerous emails to my "claims handler" and had no reply to any, also to the complaints department with the same lack of response.
In the mean time my policy is due for renewal and as the issue is ongoing they have wiped my 8 years no claims bonus for my renewal.
Needless to say I will not be dealing with them, this is obviously a "take the money and stuff'em" company with an appalling attitude to customer service.
    Be warned!

They won't have taken away all your NCD.

You can only have a maximum of 5 years (irrespective of how many years in total you have since a claim).

So pending your insurer recouping any money they have paid out on your claim, your NCD will (correctly) go down to 3 years. (A month is too soon to expect this matter to be finalised - if there is no argument about the third party being liable, you could have avoided making the claim by dealing with the third party directly, when your NCD would have been unaffected).

If you want to go elsewhere, then tell them you don't want to autorenew, and ask them to send you proof of your NCD as it stands now. Then if subsequently they do get fully reimbursed and restore your NCD to the maximum you should be able to get a premium adjustment off your new insurer to reflect this.
  • Hello everyone i am with swiftcover.com. the worst day of my life is when i pressed yes to join. had accident in may non fault, hit from the rear at roundabout had damage at rear and damage to front have been told i will have to pay for the front as they say i had a accident before this one.

There is only 1 thing wrong with that i purchased my 4x4 brand new from showroom, and now they are impling that i am trying to de-fraud my own insurance company i would re-commend everyone to stay well clear of this insurance company, my next round is with the insurance ombudsman and try to get my vehicle repaired to pre-accident damage.

    WARNING

STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY SWIFTCOVER.COM

there is an old saying u get what you pay for and we have found this out to our cost you get no response, send emails and keep copies of what you send

WARNING to everyone read the small print as they can use secondhand parts from breakers yards to repair your cars BE WARNED READ THE SMALL PRINT

If you are certain that liability is not disputed you could cancel your claim and pursue the guilty party yourself for restitution.

That would mean you won't have to have secondhand parts from breakers yards fitted - or all the ombudsman hassle!

I had an awful experience with them. They renewed my annual premium even though I sent 3 emails telling them I would not be renewing. They say they didn't get any of the emails.

I then took them through their T&Cs that state "we will contact you before renewing". I told them that no contact was made, they reckon they had "notified" me by email. I explained that notification and contact were actually two different scenarios. Notification is one way communucation, whereas contact was two way. They stood firm. I got a lawyer friend to call and point out the differene, they refund 95% of the premium. He called again and threated them with court. I got my 5% and a £20 sorry payment.

Their (only?) plus is they are cheap, and may be a moneysaver in certain situations.

If all you want is third party cover, so wouldn't ever be claiming for anything from them for yourself, and are looking for cheap, then they may be worth looking at. Also consider taking their comprehensive policy (if you would be happy with third party, and not bothered about claiming). You can take £1000 voluntary excess which may make the premium cheaper than the premium for third party.
