I saw a couple of old dears looking at the 1p bulbs and talking to each other about the wattage etc.

Along comes this - at the risk of upsetting the PC brigade - shall we say 'foreign' guy and he literally elbows into these ladies and empties almost the entire shelf (most of the bulbs were still in their cardboard big boxes if you see what I mean) into his trolley.

I walked up to him and asked him if these were for his shop - he had 6 big boxes - I guess 100+ bulbs.

The guy just grinned and went Foxtrot Oscar.

    Happy Days.

    Yes Hey Dude.
This happened to me yesterday - wouldn't mind but I was the one telling all the other old dears about the offer, when male (!!!) overhears me, asks which ones ?
While me and other old dears were checking wattage and fittings to get the ones we need/want, he clears almost the entire display - cardboard boxes and all. He never even looked to see wattage/fittings they were.

I have no doubt though he was planning to donate them all to his local old peoples home/community centre/village hall !!!!!!!

I do so hope that Karma exists and that what goes around comes around. Then he will be doubly blessed.;)
  • I just cant imagine buying more than 6 of these-after all, they last so long! Im not even going to bother to look-I just hope that all the people who bought so many actually "use" them rather than depriving everyone else out of buyin a few. Even when not at this giveaway price there have been quite a lot of them about for 50 recently. Why the rush? Im not even going to bother! I have just one spare in the cupboard-however many do we need?

Just back from my local Tesco - there was a sign saying that due to Government legislation on 4 were allowed per person - there must have been about 50 bulbs on the floor where people had dropped them and couldn't be bothered to pick them up. I picked up my 4 and noticed someone going through the till with a basket full - this annoyed my so I made mine up to 10 - went through no probs.

Well as I said earlier in this thread, I bought 80 of them in 9 different formats.
On another thread discussing the same issue someone questioned, like yourself, why you would need more than 6 or 8 ????
Well I live in a normal 3 bed semi and I counted up all my light fittings that now have energy-saving lamps fitted and listed them in response.

    How many?

    FIFTY FOUR !!!

  • Oh and just to say as I did in a previous post we have the "4 per customer" sign up but have been allowing customers more - However why oh why do people feel the need to try and clear the shelves and take 100+ Pure greed IMO:rolleyes:
