Thanks TescoEmployee for that info. It seems not all your colleagues around the country are so reasonable.
To be honest it really is not worth the arguments and hassle - Let the stock sell has always been my attitude:p ....I did however drawn the line at one point today when I spotted a customer with literally 100+ as there really is no need to be that greedy and deny others especially when we had POS up stating 4 per customer.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -
That's what I was told by the lovely SA when I went last night Tescoemployee (not allowed to sell 1p stock) - baffles me a bit though why they are publicising the 1p sale though ??!!
I did, indeed, leave some on the shelf (I was fortunate and got 23 but will give some to my mum and sister). At the end of the day, I think it's another 'vary store to store' policy so you just have to be in the right store, at the right time to be able to get them. With all things in life, you win some, you lose some (that's my philosophy and i'm sticking to it lol).:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -
I got fed up trying to work out which ones were a penny so put a few different ones in my trolley and one bulb went thro at more than £7 and another at more than £3
The lad at CS seemed fairly fed up as the whole store was really busy but he refunded me the ones that were more than 1p. I bought 4 of the value ones for the office and may go back for more as we have a lot of lights there, they were marked at 84p so still had a load of them.0 -

Indeed - This promotion was not communicated to front end GAs though in time so their initial reaction would have been not to allow the sale etc, as we don't usually sell 1p stock.
I think going forward now that articles have appeared in the Daily Mail, Daily Mirror etc, there will be a rush from customers for the lightbulbs and the '4 per customer' will be enforced in most stores.
I dread tomorrow as we will sell out in seconds if more stock is delivered tonight so I await the customer complaints and accusations of "I bet you didn't have any in the first place" or they will accuse me of keeping them back for staff:rolleyes: Happy days!:pStand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

Now hold on a minute. I am not attacking staff, just pointing out some questionable actions posters here have said about.
However, lets get things straight. The OP, a Tesco worker, posted this after the store got notification on wednesday about this happening thursday. It is now friday.People were buying them on thursday with no problem. This is obviously something communicated from higher up given there would be a lot of press advertising, so are you trying to say that staff have not been made aware of this by today, 48 hours later. If not then there is a massive communication breakdown within stores.0 -

With stores that have anything upto 1,000 employees working various shifts (Anything from 3.75 hours a week upwards) then no not everyone has been informed. I don't think thats a 'massive communication breakdown' rather than it not being top of the agenda information to pass on. But as I said in a previous post EVERYONE is aware of it now.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -
There is a full page Tesco advert in the scottish Daily Mail saying the light bulbs are 1p each(on all 6,000 hour bulbs while stocks last)maximum of 4 per customer.0

Managed to get into my local Tesco tonight, even though I had my ghastly hyper post-party kids with me. There was ONE SEL for 1p bulbs....cleared out of course....for, as I eventually worked out, the GE 20W spiral bulbs. There were some of these on a different shelf under a different label but I eventually managed to find seven with the correct barcode that matched up to the SEL so I was pleased. Especially as these are the exact bulbs I use anyway. So many thanks, OP.
While I was there a worried store manager came up with a copy of a newspaper ad in her hand. She was totally confused about what she was looking for and thought that my 20w spiral SEL was for the 11w stick bulbs illustrated. I told her that lots of different bulbs were supposed to be reduced and she looked totally depressed. "This promotion would have to happen on my weekend shift" were her exact words, poor woman. My local Tesco staff are pretty good, have to say, so I felt a bit sorry for her.
There was no notice up about being limited to four per customer and my seven went through with no problem, though I did choose one of the Saturday staff and my daughter was rioting around me, fuelled up as she was on party syntho-food. Good distraction!
Might pop back again on Monday, if there are more due in. I don't use 11w bulbs but it would be nice to get a few more 20w at that price if possible. I remember when these used to cost £6 or £8 each!Val.0 -
My Local Tesco told me that 32 cases of 1p lightbulbs were being delivered tonight, so if I come in early tomorrow they will be there, only 4 per customer, even though she said customers were buying 4, returning and buying more....0
