went to ely and was told 4 per 'family' not 4 per person, as previous people have said, the staff begrudged every bulb going through but still managed to get some.
A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j

I think Tesco should be asking some questions about the behaviour of some of their staff going by the way some have been reporting here.
There have been reports of staff refusing to sell them, trying to take them off customers and, as stated here, begrudging sales. I wonder if they are restricted to just 4? I doubt it.
  • mrsv05, you should have gone in to Ely last night..........I picked up a few of the bulbs and asked the bloke setting the end up to check the price for me as our 'price checker' has mysteriously vanished from the store. took em to cs and he was surprised they went through at 1p......he had an email saying they werent reduced til today!
got about 20.....then rang friends up and told to hotfoot it to the store:j

thanks to the original poster for the tip:T

I wasn't told 4 per person either. All SA said to me (and we were chatting for quite a while!) was that Tesco policy is that if something is 1p they are not allowed to sell it (not sure why!) but she said nothing about limits. If there is no sign up which says 'multi buys not allowed' or 'multi buys max of 6 per customer' etc etc then I would personally challenge it ! I can't see how they can stop you if there is no sign up to say '4 per customer' where the bulbs are displayed. Probably just some store managers who can't stand to see anyone get a bargain but I can't see that they are doing their job properly if they don't realise why Tesco's are selling them off so cheap (see previously in this thread).

In the press ad's it states 4 per customer, not sure in store. In Eastbourne there was no indication of 1p bulbs at 9am this morning. All sel's were normal price. Never thought of checking.
  • Sold out in seconds today and we have allowed customers extra as its not worth the hassle - Not quite sure why anyone would want 50 lighbulbs though that will last upto 6 years each:rolleyes: But of course a few ruin it for the many by clearing the shelves.

Plenty more stock hitting stores over the weekend and the early part of next week - Extra stores are due to recieve pallets;)

POS is available and an e-mail has come down stating 4 per customer - Depends on the cashier to be honest if it gets enforced or not.

Thanks TescoEmployee for that info. It seems not all your colleagues around the country are so reasonable.

This offer is indeed restricted to 4 per customer and please be aware before you attack Tesco staff that the company policy is not to sell 1p stock (What actually happens with it varies from store to store) so for them to be selling stock for 1p when it probably has not been communicated to them that this is indeed a 'promotion' would seem unusual to them.
