considering all the previous posts had took it as fact considering there is no such government directive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And there was no reply to the legislation comment either.

A non reply will always look like it is dodging the issue

My last scepticism/posting was regarding a £100 32" BEko LCD TV offer.
At least this one is penny safe.

    So the OP was correct.

1p EACH.. spent 20p to last me a few years in lighting.:o

I've got no problems with the likes of quoia buying as many bulbs as they need.

But the likes of Mr Foreign just blindly emptying the shelf - you just know that he's gonna be selling these at a huge profit from his shop or market stall.

When we were flooded last year Tesco employees actually guarded water deliveries (this was before the Army came along and saved our souls) and ensured that no one person bought pallets.

Why can they not do the same for this deal? Let the average joe or old dear benefit and stuff the likes of Mr Foreign.

I doubt the PC brigade are up this early but comparing what I witnessed yesterday to the floods - the only individuals I personally saw trying to sell bottled water were Johnny Foreigners!

But that said and in the interest of balance the native kids ran around our area peeing in the water butts......

Hey Ho - Rule Britannia etc

Well as I said earlier in this thread, I bought 80 of them in 9 different formats.
On another thread discussing the same issue someone questioned, like yourself, why you would need more than 6 or 8 ????
Well I live in a normal 3 bed semi and I counted up all my light fittings that now have energy-saving lamps fitted and listed them in response.

    How many?

    FIFTY FOUR !!!

I was amazed too when I counted up how many light fittings I had in the house. I live in a sprawling four bedroom conversion and I have fifteen main pendants, seventeen lamps that take standard bulbs and eleven other fitments that take non-standard bulbs like fluorescent strips or spots. No wonder the goverment wants us to save energy on lightbulb use! If every house in the country is as well lit as ours and we can cut energy use by say 50% in this manner alone, that's a lot of energy.

And, of course, a lot of money off the electricity bill. I got seven 20w bulbs at my local Tesco and was pleased with that, but tomorrow once the kids are at school I'm going to do a little trawl round the local Tescos and find some more. I reckon if I get another 20 or 30 in the right sizes then that will keep me going for the next six years.

I managed to get 6 light bulbs last night, after being told all the 1p ones sold before 1pm (when the person I spoke to had come on shift). My parents also tried to buy some yesterday, but were told that within 10 minutes of the store opening one person had cleared the shelves (and this is not a small stores). I think four is a bit restrictive, when you consider number of lights in a house (we have about 30). I left those of the wrong fitting or wattage, worked out what we needed so that if there were any others stood a chance. It looks like another seller we will see at the car boot sales soon.

I popped in today to see if they had any screw-fit ones - No Chance - i'm suprised the display hadn't been taken!!

With the technology that TESCO have they should restrict things like this to Clubcard holders and say restrict numbers to 5 per card - yes I know many will argue that they have much more fitting in their house, but come-on why shouldn't offers like this be spread around to more people - How many people, including myself are going to have these stored away, forgotton about and probably thrown away unused because the technology will have moved on when they eventually find them.

I went to the Huntingdon store yesterday. I'd forgotten all about the lightbulb offer I'd read about on here. But when I got to the checkout, the lady asked me if I wanted energy saving lightbulbs for 1p each. They were limiting you to 4 per customer. I got four and so did my daughter.

They had plenty of the Tesco Value screw type ones in my local store which aren't priced at 1p but do go through as 1p.

do you know how long these ones are meant to last? dont say 6 years but look very similar, only difference appears to be 2 tubes of light instead of 3.

Just come back from St.Helens and I proudly cleared the shelf...... of 3.

Hey ho, half a light fitting in my hall sorted:rolleyes:

None in the Tesco garage, nor in Warrington extra the guy in the Xtra said they were ripped off the shelf in 5 mins. He was not sure if they had another delivery coming or not.

Wish I could have been more helpful.
  • They still have some in the Llanelli store,iv just returned home after buying 2 boxes. So they will still be there at opening tomorrow.
