I went looking for Candle bulbs - forgetting this thread, and then when I got to the shelf and saw 100's of 6-year bulbs - started me on a 1p hunt!!

The self-scanner was 4 aisles away, I must have looked like a looney, kept going back and forth to work out which were 1p and which were full price.

Managed to get my 3 candles, then got 5 for living room (large 11w bayonet), then got 3 x 20w spirals for hallway and landing, and bedroom, then got 3 x 7w spot light for kitchen, and bought 3 different sized ones for the outside light (as I couldn't remember what it took), plus some for my mum's house so I bought 23 in total, and no-one batted an eyelid at checkout.

    23pence well spent.

Why is it though that some of the 6-year were 1p and some are still full price.

Oh, BTW this was at Failsworth in Manchester, still plenty on the shelves of the types I bought. (7w spot, 11w large, various candles, 20w spirals)
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

Thanks to the like of Tesco Employee keeping us informed.
Went to Tesco for something else today - they do sell stuff other than light bulbs.;)
anyway, thought I would check to see if any more stock had come in as TE had predicted.
It didn't look very promising, as display looked very "ravaged"
But took a selection of various types to the scanner, and all but one scanned at 1p.:j
Went back and got enough to sort out the spot lights in kids bedrooms - 4 in each fitting, and they seem to last about 5 minutes, so hope these really do last 6 yrs.
Also got enough for small table lamps I like to use at night.
I didn't 'clear the shelves', so although it looks even more depleted than when I arrived, there are plenty left of different types - you just need time, patience and a scanner if possible;)

I would really love to get some of the economy halogen type spots for the bathroom and kitchen -GU50's I think they are. I know they do make them, but whether Tesco sell them is another matter.

Thanks to op yet again - must be post of the month surely - even though advertised in papers - I only buy paper if has MOC in, so I wouldn't have spotted ( pardon the pun) it !!

Also to all nice Tesco Staff who take the time to keep us informed of stock/deliveries. It is much appreciated :T

My local Tesco didn't have any left yesterday, but I will try tomorrow morning to see if they had more stock. The staff knew nothing about it, I even told them about the ad in the Daily Mail.

Anyway, I already have most of my lights converted to low energy bulbs except the halogen ones on the landing and kitchen spots. Can these bulbs be used in spotlights? I know they take a minute or two to warm up to the highest brightness.

Can you imagine the hassle in postiing a lightbulb, they are so delicate.
I broke one once when i tried to put it up, and there were a few broken ones at Tesco also. i am sure i was reading somewhhere that they contain mercury and you should evacuate the room for a few hours:eek: .
I am happy with the 2 lightbulbs are manged to get

Does anyone know whether any of the Sheffield tescos have any in? They're all quite a distance from my house and I don't think it's very 'green' to be driving round to find out for myself!

I popped in today to see if they had any screw-fit ones - No Chance - i'm suprised the display hadn't been taken!!

With the technology that TESCO have they should restrict things like this to Clubcard holders and say restrict numbers to 5 per card - yes I know many will argue that they have much more fitting in their house, but come-on why shouldn't offers like this be spread around to more people - How many people, including myself are going to have these stored away, forgotton about and probably thrown away unused because the technology will have moved on when they eventually find them.

Excellent idea but when people are buying 10 then they are not likely to use their Clubcard on a 10p purchase - Also if as a company we announced that we would be restricting people to a set amount via Clubcard data then people would simply not use their Clubcard.

As I said in a previous post their are PLENTY of the bulbs around - My store had in the region of 1,000 cases delivered yesterday but I guess people will have to just keep checking in their local branch as they are hardly a top prority line to rush onto the shelves - For example 1,000 bulbs equals turnover of £10:rotfl:

It would seem that Extra stores are getting the biggest deliveries of stock but we timed today how long the promotional display of bulbs took to clear (Around 1,000 bulbs).....2 minutes:eek: :rotfl: I would guess it would be a good idea to check tomorrow morning as most stores open at 8am so there is a chance they will be restocked tonight and if you get in for opening you will be able to get some;)
