What is your pet niggle when staying in hotels?

Lighting to dim to do make up & no plug near the mirror, are my pet hates too.0

c*m stains on the chairs. a testament to the films I am sure but not nice. At a hotel in Edinburgh I took the offending cushion to reception much to their amusement.
Also why do they have tissues by the bed? I could never work that out. do people blow their nose a lot in hotel beds?0 -
not finding a nice fluffy dressing gown on the back of the bathroom doorI am not a financial advisor. Anything I post is basically just random stuff from my head. Digest it as you will. Being free of debt is good. Banks control us through debt. Caveat Emptor. Ignore anything I say. Oh and don't copy it either. Cheers. I'll have a Guinness extra cold.0

I thought they had your second peeve to try and avoid the first!!! [or; I thought they provided tissues to avoid having c*m stains on the chairs/curtains etc...]0 -
I just object to noise when I am trying to sleep. And I prefer not to have too many bedbugs, fleas, or whatever.0

the rooms that dehydrate you to death overnight and you end up waking up at the middle of the night - after taking sooo long to eventually manage to get to sleep!!0

Pre-authing a large amount on your credit/debit card even though you've told them you want to pay in cash and not have any of the movie-type facilities. And then taking ages to release the money so you're skint for days. Really winds me up!Proud to be a Clob Clubber :beer:0

I agree with this. I never, ever bother with them, except to chill my own drinks in. Why cannot they see that if the prices were realistic they would sell a lot more of the contents. At present the sales must be negligible, so they are providing them for no return. I would love to see a hotel chain break the mould and charge standard prices and find they made more money.
As for room safes, I would never pay. We discount any that charge if we find that while trawling through hotel booking sites. It is an inexcusable scam when they should be doing everything they can to promote the security of the hotel.0 -
Yeah, overpriced mini bars are so annoying. I just empty it out and fill it with goodies from local supermarket. i.e. stuff I specifically can choose at a much lower price!
Charging for internet/gym/swimming pool use...
When they don't clean properly!0 -
The really noisy expellair fan that lasts for about 20 mins when you nip to the loo in the night0
