What is your pet niggle when staying in hotels?

When staying in hotels I find it very irritating paying for the use of the room safe.

One doesn`t usually pay for the use of the clothes hangers, television, toilet rolls etc but when it comes to the safe there is a charge and quite a hefty one too.
Perhaps Martin could launch a campaign to ban this dreadful charge.

Pay for the safe? I've never had to. Try a different hotel.

Low wattage lighting is my dislike.

The point on the toilet roll lets you know the maid has been in and cleaned the place after the last person left, I think!

My pet hate- curtains that don't block out the light
    Any dirt of any kind
    Mini bars' extortionate charges.

Oh, don't get mestarted on curtains. I stayed at a hotel in Aurora, Illlinois for one night last year and the room didn't even have curtains! All i got was a view of a rail road. I got there late (11pm) as my flight was delayed so I just wanted a bed to sleep in.

My pet peeves are not having tea/coffe making facilities and not having an iron.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

Classing the mini-bar as an desirable amenity, when in reality it's just a cash-cow for the hotel. They might as well say "we have a slot in the room where you can drop in your unwanted five-pound notes"
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Hotel in Barcelona I'm off to has free mini bars !!

Free soft drinks anyway, that suits me fine.

    Mirrors !

I am 'only' 6 ft tall but whenever I try and comb my hair in a hotel bathroom mirror all I can see is from my navel to my chin !

Are hotels designed by the vertically challenged ?

The one that really gets me (and I can't figure out why) is when they fold the end of the loo roll into a nice little point - !!!!!!!!!

our cleaner does that at work with the loo roll and kitchen roll. less time on the origami love and get that vac behind my office door.
