Hi everyone,
I'm back from holiday and feeling somewhat recovered.
I just thought I would share some good news on my situation. Hopefully those of you in similar situations will have some hope!
Barclays have refunded my money today. All £610 of it. I went through the "Transaction Duspute" process. I didn't hold out much hope to be honest and had completely forgotten about it but today the whole amount was refunded.
I still hope to see the authorities crack down on the people who did this.
In the meantime my advice for people who got scammed and paid by debit card is:
1. Contact your local police force.
2. Dispute the transaction to SFT or other scam website with your bank using your crime number.
3. Contact trading standards in London who are investigating the scam (i'll post contact details when I get them)

3. Contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 to add your name to the list. The bigger the list the more likely action will be taken to chase these scam merchants!

I received a refund of £860 on my visa debit from Barclays a couple of days ago. I've got to say that the process was made extremely easy by Barclays and have for the first time in over 10 years of banking with them been impressed with their service.
In order to get my refund I phoned debit card services and explained what had occurred, they then sent me a transcript of what I had described, I signed it, sent it back to Barclays and then received my refund 10 days later.

which suggests that is from when you expect the tickets to arrive, not from the date of the purchase0 -

I paid in early March and claimed mid August so more like 150 days elapsed.
Like JAYMMU I was impressed with Barclays for the first time in a long time. I want to say thank you but am still worried they might take the money back!

Hi, just to let you know that I received my money back from Egg last week. As the originator of this thread I find it incredulous that all the authorities were/are powerless to stop these scams. I knew sadly almost immediately that it was a scam.That was waaaaay back at the start of the thread. Summerfestivals at that time didn't even have a secure website and there was evidence that card details were going walkabout. I rang Egg and the police. Told them what was happening. Summerfest in their t&c's stated that no money would be taken until the tickets were sent out. I had no tickets - money was taken- wasn't that enough for them to instigate a chargeback? No one was remotely interested.0

Hello again, I am writing with news that HSBC mastercard refunded me fully, with interest yesterday. As for bogus sites, they are still there, summerfestivaltickets, paperticket.co.uk, and many more. Please use caution, try with a bogus set of details, if they work, the site is not legit.
Please MARTIN LEWIS, can you use this thread that phoebe03cat started and pass it to the media to use to name and shame? The internet is huge, TV reaches the rest! Don't give up, claim back through your banks, debit, credit cards ! Thanks to everyone who has said their two cents..........0 -

I have just checked my Barclays account and can see that they have refunded me for the tickets I purchased on my debit card.
Although I am so relieved that I have got the money back and obviously grateful to Barclays - BUT I cannot help but be really peeved that the bank have refunded it themselves and that the scam mongers have got MY money.
I would liek to thank the originators of this forum for showing me how to proceed. Without your tips and advice I wouldn't of known which way to go.

That's the problem. When companies go bust and it's left to the credit and debit card companies to pick up the tab, that money has to come from somewhere. I imagine that that this will be reflected in increased charges and interest rates to all customers.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
