summer festivals.com - CROOKS
Beware this website.
We purchased tickets on March 9 this year, for the V Festival to be held on 17 August 08 in Weston Park, for my sons 17th birthday present.
We were told tickets are issued about 10 days before the event, so were frustrated, angry, & upset to find an email arrive on Saturday 9th August 08 stating that we had no tickets, that their supplier had let them down, they had ceased trading and to claim via our credit card.
Have checked this eve & their website is still running, so they have our money and are still conning people.- is there nothing we can do to stop these scammers?
Please.. please inform the police, trading standards and watchdog
I have also been on my local radio station trying to bring as much attention as possible to our situation, especially as i learnt earlier today that the same thing happened last year.0 -
alisonm, please do what linpen says and report it to police i have reported it to everyone i can think of!!!!!! and don't give up, keep hassling sft!!!!!!!!!!!! just to let them know we are not going to leave it.....which is obviously what they are hoping for:mad:0
-
Cheers Linpen - I don't get mad - I get even! (thats the plan at least).
I made prelimnary telephone contact with Essex police yesterday. They didn't appear overly confident of coming to the bottom of this case as I was the only one to have reported this so far and said they would pass my details onto the fraud office. Has anyone had a similar response?
If I could come back with a figure of people affected by this so far so I could show to them the extent of problem (numbers of people and money) they would place more importance on the case. I feel that people who paid on credit card might not think to report the problem because they should be able to get their money back, and I think Summer Festival Ticket relies on that. It's down to us (former) debit card users to carry the fight.
I'll start the ball rolling:
4 tickets - £610Speculate to accumulate, Rodney. He who dares wins.0 -
Have any other debit card users received this email yet from SFT?
As confirmed to you over the weekend we have unfortunately have had to stop trading. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this will have caused you and we hope you have been able to source tickets to the event you were booked for.
We have received confirmation from our bank that you originally paid with a Visa debit card and were therefore having trouble getting your money refunded through your card provider. We are please to inform you that we have issued you with a full refund for all money paid. This refund will be paid back into the same account from where it was taken from, and will clear in 3-10 days.
If after 10 days you have still not received a refund then please email us at sales@summerfestivaltickets.com and we will check the status of the refund.
If you have any queries in the meantime please feel free to email us, but we warn you it may take us a little longer than normal to reply due to the high volume of emails we are receiving.
Once again we apologise sincerely, but can reassure you that all your money is being returned to you.

I think that i may have received this reply because i emailed them as soon as i got the cancellation email on Saturday (before i looked on this forum) to say that I have paid on Visa Debit so how can I get my money back. Understandably I am a bit unsure what to believe with regards to SFT.com so I wondered if anyone else has had this email, and also whether people think that i will actually get a refund.
Also, I am currently waiting for some claim forms to come in the post from Barclays so I am still going to pursue a chargeback just incase the money isn't refunded by SFT.com0 -
Dear Sidney Sideboard
i do agrree with you - i got the same reponse from the police (West Mercia) and trading standards that i was the 1st case to be reported !?!?!? - they have got to realise this is nationwide. The radio station was told the same!?! Indicating that this was not a big scam I can let you have my log details and ref no if it helps.
I lay awake last night thinking like you how we can as a group collate the numbers affected and how much these people have got away with.
I have lost £445 (3 tickets) - there's over a £1000. between us. I have emailed GMTV trying to get more publicity but so far have heard nothing. What makes me so cross is that this happened last year and these scammer (maybe different ones) expect the cc companies to pay out - but debit card users probably want get anything - sft should be refunding us
I'm with you i'll go the whole hog to uncover this - even it i lobby parliament
PLEASE - can everyone support Sid and let him know the amount you have lost and the area you are from
Does anyone have the no for the V Festival Organisers.
Cheer Siid - keep in touch we can't give up0 -
Is there hope then?
I have emailed sft and told them that i paid by a visa debit card and they just sent me the same email that i recieved on sat - until i get my money back i won't give up, although i'm aware at present they haven't actually done anything wrong
So come on SFT if you are reading this - SURPRISE US ALL AND GIVE ALL US DEBIT CARD USERS A REFUND AT LEAST WE CAN ENJOY THE WEEKEND???

to all that have reportd this to the police well done, although it seems it is being recieved a little indifferently! My experience is different, I reported it to my local crime desk (Hemel Hempstead)and the response has been really good, they have taken all of the info i could give them including this forum and some others, the names, addresses of those named on the durbanveinna web sites. I have been told a statement taker will be in touch in next couple of days to take statement amd copies of all e mails exchanged and a case is being sent to Met. Police Croydon. Also been told that if i find anymore info to pass it on to them. perhaps if you try mentioning that croyden are investigating they may be able to get their heads together and get an idea if how big this scam is.0
