When I first moved in with OH I wasn't sure what to buy, but if you find a receipe you want to try, buy the ones you need for this, and so on and so and then you find you've got cupboards full of everything and anything! :rotfl: :rotfl: If you make a lot of your own curries as we do the most important ones are tumeric, cumin, cardomon pods, cinammon sticks & coriander.0

I dont use cardomon pods or cinnamon sticks, guess it is all just personal taste though. My spice cupboard homes coriander, ginger, cumin, turmeric, paprika and chilli powder. The consultant as my class this week was giving away samples of lea and perrins worcester sauce so i currently have about 40 of those too lolYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

we don't use them often but quite a few SW receipes use them, so we just follow the instructions!

Easy Syn Free Rice Pudding
Free On Green
(If using skimmed milk as a HEa)
Ingredients
50g Pudding Rice
30g Sweetener
550 ml Skimmed Milk
*350ml is a HEa you could syn the remaining or add water to make up to 550ml if you dont want to use both your HEa
Good Pinch of Nutmeg (or to taste)
Method
In to a pan empty the rice, sweetener and milk and a good pinch of nutmeg
Bring to the boil, stirring all the time ( this is important or it will stick)
When boiling, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer until most of the liquid is absorbed ( keep stiring often)
When you reach your desired consistency usually about 20 mins + serve and enjoy your rice pudding.
**can always add a vanilla mullerlight for the last 20-30 minutes or so to make it creamier.:)You can stand there and agonize........

Just made a lovely bolognaise style dinner. I bought the meat free mince from Asda as i thought it would be the same as quorn, but its not it has a syn value - not many but they all add up. I was quite suprised as i thought you could generally swap named brands for shops own brans (MSE style
) and they were the same. I have been a hog with syns already today and was wanting a filling free dinner, never mind - i'll be good tomorrow........... maybe......

It's only a few syns isn't it?3 per bag or something IIRC?How do you find it in comparison with quorn mince?I ask cos I've got some in the freezer but haven't used it yet.I think someone else (can't remember who - sorry!) on here mentioned they thought it was nicer than quorn mince and wondered what you thought?:T:jHalf a stone off, only another 2 to go!:j:T:D;)Cats are truly evil, like women....;):D:p

It was actually much nicer than the quorn stuff, it looked dreadful when I put it in the pan but the consistency was nice and it tasted fine. When i put it in the pan my DH asked me why I was cooking dust?
But it was nice give it a go you get twice as much for about 20p more than the Quorn mince. You can stand there and agonize........

Hey all, I have been away from the forum for a few day but just caught up with the forum.
Had a party lastnight so was a little bad had about 30 Syns but back on track today. I done a shop with my OH so all stocked up on veg and fruit.
Anyone got any ideas for a filling meal on a green day I can have for lunch tommorrow, as i am trying to plan ahead. I have been eating alot of cous cous and potatoes and just wondered if anyone has tried anything nice lately?
From a few pages back i have also tried the pasta bake using the pasta sauce it is nice with the garlic chicken one and chicken as HEB.
I hope we are all on track, and i am hoping that my day of weakness will not ruin WI on Monday

northernlass wrote: »Pizza base (22 syns)
I dont know if you watch This Morning, but Antony Worrell Thompson made a pizza base using grated potato cooked like a rosti, he grated the pots and squeezed out most of the liquid and then put the pots in a frying pan (he used oil but we would use frylight) and pressed it down. he cooked it until crisp and turned it and did the same. he then put it in the oven to finish it off. when it was nice and crispy he covered it with tomato based sauce (we would use passata) and loads of different vegies topped it off with a sprinkling of cheese (HA choice) and put it back in the oven until heated thru. he was then able to cut it like a pizza and serve, im gonna do one this weekend as saturday is treat night for the kids and its usually pizza. so technically this would be free on a green day.
Ill let you all know how it goes unless someone tries it before me lol
well i made it and to be honest it was quite palletable,:p it was a bit strange the base being potato but all the toppings made it quite yummy. i did 2 one with ham, pepperoni, sweetcorn and mozzerella cheese and the other with peppers, red onlions, mushrooms, ham and mozzerella, it took quite a while for the potato base to cook and go crispy only to go soft again when i put the tomato on it lol:cool: i will make it again tho as it was very satisfyling and filling.:TDFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0
