Hmmm thanks, I know there wasnt any spread in it though, just mayonnaise. Thats what the packaging said anyway. The sandwich had 320 calories in it so its not like I went mad! They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

Judderman - I take my hat off to you!! A few years ago I kind of assumed that most people "our" age could cook. I never did cookery at school but had to learn pretty quick when I got married and as children came along & money was tight you just have to! It was quite a shock just a couple of years ago to realise that there are a lot of people out there who can't cook. A woman I know was telling me that she only ever opens tins and packets and roasts a bit of meat that was the extent of her cookery & she'd been married 20 years with 2 sons. She said her own mother was a rubbish cook and they lived on tins of everything - veg, fruit and meat. Nothing fresh ever.
Anyway, she had to start budgeting very carefully because her hubby was made redundant and started making meals from scratch and using recipes from mags and she got to like it and is a wonderful cook now.
I think there will be a lot more people learning how to cook properly soon. It can be fun and challenging but at least you know 100% what goes in and you can make very healthy meals at a fraction of the cost of pre-packed stuff.
Really hope you get on OK and I'm sure you'll be getting compliments on your cooking soon.;)
Thanks sweetie:kisses3:
There is defo a satisfaction to be had in knowing you are creating something yourself and it's good that you know everything that's going in to it and that you are not putting and additives n other cr*p into what you're going to eat :beer:Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Syn free on Green Plan + HE for cheese
Packet instant mash
Fry Light
½ Large Tin Chopped Tomatoes
1 Small onion, chopped
Some Passata
Oregano
Pinch of Sweetener
Salt and Pepper
Other toppings
28g per person Cheddar Cheese, grated (HEA)
Ideas: sliced mushrooms, sweetcorn, peppers, onions etc.
Preheat the oven to Gas 6
Spray a flat baking tray with Fry Light.
Make the mash (a little thicker than normal) and spread thinly onto the baking tray and spray again with Fry Light to cover the pizza base. Bake until the base starts to turn brown and crispy – this may take a while.
Meanwhile make the tomato sauce. In a non-stick frying pan add all of the tomato topping ingredients and cook on a fairly high heat. Add more Passata if the mixture dries out. The mixture does need to be fairly thick though and the onions must be cooked.
Spread this on top of the base.
Add your choice of toppings. Spray again with Fry Light and bake for 5-10 minutes – until everything has cooked
Sprinkle the cheese on top and bake until the cheese has melted.
Serve sliced.
Syn free curry sauce. (Delicious)
1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp finely grated ginger
1tbsp hot or med curry powder
400g tin chopped tomatoes
57ml/2fl oz veg stock
2 tbspn sweetener
57g/ 2oz natural yoghurt or Quark/fromage frais
1tbspn chopped mint
1 tbspn chopped coriander
Chop onions and crush garlic. Spray frying pan with fry light and place on heat - add onion, garlic, and ginger and fry for 1-2 mins before adding curry powder.
Stir and cook for another couple of mins then add tomatoes, sweetener and stock.
Bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer gently for 12-15 mins.
Blitz sauce in food processor or with hand blender, and return to heat. Heat gently and add quark/yoghurt/fromage frais and herbs.
have you ever made this pizza, ive found the amount of potato you use really takes away the taste of the pizza toppings also you cant actually pick up the slice of pizza you have cut and i think that is part of the fun of pizza. it has been made by several of my groups members and none of them can get away with it. i know we can make adjustments to our liking and this has been done but no we still cant get away with it. have you done anything different or any of your members that you can share with us and we can pass on.DFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0 -

I bought the meat free mince from Asda as i thought it would be the same as quorn, but its not it has a syn value - not many but they all add up. I was quite suprised as i thought you could generally swap named brands for shops own brans (MSE style) and they were the same.

Why is there syns in this though does anyone know? Looking back I see its very low for the whole bag so am going to try it on moday.
xxp00
It looks like 1.5 syns for 100g - about a quarter of the bag, I used about a fifth of the bag tonight to make 2 meals so its not really significant.
But i was suprised that there were any syns in it, it must be the way it is manufactured, must be different to the Quorn (tastier too).
But its like that little bit of spread you put on your bread or the couple of sweets you nick off the kids or the half a fishfinger that makes its way into your mouth on the way to the bin - it all adds up.You can stand there and agonize........
