I have a great low fat fish chowder recipe.
Basically, poach the fish in boiling water and keep the water.
Cook cubed vegetables until soft (1 cup potatoes, carrots, celery, red pepper...)
Return the fish in small pieces
Mix half a cup of flour with a can of low fat evaporated milk.
Mix in and cook until it thickens.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Simple fish curry, just poach the fish in tinned tomato and coconut milk and add spices an onion0

I have used Mr T's value fish and value prawns to make a fish pie - it was yummy! I fed it to the outlaws who eat alot of fish and when I told them afterwards it was value stuff they admitted they couldn't tell.
I must admit it doesn't look particularly apetitising by itself but disguised in a pie it's fine"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies!
I ended up deciding to experiment-i cooked it in the oven in a tin foil package covered in a bit of nando's sun dried tomato sauce, a bit of lemon juice, and some dried mixed herbs. surprisingly, being that it was value white fish, it was delicious:T0 -
i have just made salmon and white fish kebabs; I skewered them on alternately and then drizzled them with honey and sesame seeds, i guess you could use lemon juice instead of honey. The boys loved them. That's Numberwang!0

I always cook mine the way Pink-winged has suggested. In foil, in the oven, then when ready I eat it with a couple of vegetables and lots of lemon juice on it. :drool:Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Found this recipe tried it last night and thought it was lovely so thought I'd share.
4 fish fillets (or it could be chicken)
Paprika 1/4 tsp
Garlic 1/4 tsp
Onion powder 1/4 tsp
Pepper 1/8 tsp
oregano 1/8 tsp
thyme 1/8 tsp
But to be honest I did guess work.
about table spoon of lemon juice
1 or 2 table spoons of melted butter (but I used oil)
Put the fish in an oven dish
mix all the spices in a dish the spribkle over the fish, drizzle the lemon juice over then the oil.
Bake for around 20 mins or untill cooked.

I have a salmon fillet and a smoked haddock fillet left over from making a fish pie on Tuesday. What can I use them for?
I was thinking of maybe a fish curry or something because I have a tin of coconut milk in the cupboard begging to be used, but not sure how I'd go about making it...
Any suggestions welcome! Thanks all xx0
