Well... im feeling quite industrious. Done a meal planner for the 4 weeks from my pay day on monday till the next pay day, made a mini shopping list to pick up tonight to get me through. Im trying out some new recipes so will have to see if they rate very well with OH before making them a recurring feature on the menu plan. Not a great variety, OH likes "english" food so im keeping things simple.... he might even cook more if he knows exactly what is for tea.0

All is well here today. Am off to the park with the small person this afternoon [meeting a friend there] to see the free clown so he should enjoy that. This evening I must cook up the windfall apples I've been given and I'm going blackberrying very soon so can feel a crumble coming on. OH made a delicious apple bread in the BM- he knows me..... he shoved it in the freezer before I could get my sticky little paws on it and scoff the lot!! I think this evening it's back to the hall painting again. Fine once I get started but if I can come up with any excuse not to do it I shall be there!!
Regards

Well I haven't contributed to one of these before but I just HAD to tell someone and you lot seem to be the people who will appreciate it.
TODAY I MADE MY TEENAGE BOYS GO THROUGH THEIR DRAWERS AND REMOVE ALL THE CLOTHES THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO WEAR AGAIN!
My bed is invisible under carrier bags. There's at least one bag for the recycling box, one for jumble, and several on offer to my sister.
I feel proud we've finally done it, and embarrassed 'cos I think it's over 2 years since I did it last. Some of those socks - when DID they last have feet that small!
Also this week I put my foot down and insisted everyone pick a day to cook a meal. We now have a chart on which I have listed all the food available in the categories of protein, carbs and veg, and they choose! Then they sign up on the 'days of the week' section, which has who is cooking, what they are cooking, and whether we need to eat early or not (because son is working).
So far so good: Monday was frankfurters with mash, fresh tomatoes, and mushrooms (took youngest into Lidl, possibly a bad move!) Yesterday it was me, and I wasn't feeling well so it was cold lamb from Sunday with spicy wedges, onion rings and baked beans. Today my eldest is about to do something creative with the rest of the cold lamb ... if only he could make up his mind what!
Better go and hassle him ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Today I've been clearing out the little shed.Last week we mended and painted it(only finished that on Monday). I hauled out loads of bits of old kitchen cupboard(stored away incase they became handy,..they didnt),then emptied the 2 chests of drawers which were full of enid blyton books wrapped in carriers (they are going back in the cupboard in the house) and boxes of games and puzzles ,not wrapped in carriers and absolutely ruined by snails.
Anyway I now have a large bench all along one wall (an old door we saved incase it became useful,...it did) and the drawers under it.Shelves on the wall and a big box for the tools to stand in so they dont trip me up everytime I go in. OH is going to be so jealous when he sees it;)
I can quite understand why men used to spend all day in their potting sheds, its like having your own little room to do what you like in
We had toad in the hole for tea today.this morning I made a new batch of yoghurt and the usual loaf.
Must get out and weed now and the usual watering when it gets cooler.0 -

You do realise that tomorrow you will find something that the old kitchen cupboards would have been absolutely ideal for don't you? :rotfl: :rotfl:
I had an early start at work this morning and a meeting I had been dreading but that turned out to be quite good (and short!) so I felt better after that.
Despite the early start my washing was on the line to dry before I left for work which I was very pleased about.
Made a malted loaf in BM last night from my recipe book but it didn't turn out as I expected. It is very tasty but I wanted soreen-type malt loaf which me and ds absolutely love. The loaf I got is like a malty-flavoured fruit loaf. It is wonderful toasted but not as sweet or sticky as the soreen stuff. In fact, more like bread than cake. Does anyone have a recipe for proper malt loaf? (Just found one in the indexed collection! I should have looked there first.)
Tonight I need to use up some courgettes so I am going to make scrummy carrot and courgette soup. DS is going to watch footy and OH is out for the evening so I think I will catch up on bills and paperwork.
Have a nice evening everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Erm... I've seen a thread on soreen loaves somewhere - in fact I remember searching for a recipe and not finding one. Loads of references but no recipe. From memory the concensus was to add more molasses - up to four times as much!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Evening all --- A busy one for me today....but great news!!!! DH (clever boy that he is) got his promotion yesterday!!!!!! :T :T :T He's like a kid in a sweet shop and hasn't stopped grinning yet. It's a "substantial" pay rise and he'll get to work from home for half the time, which is great as I work from home too, so we'll get to spend lots of time together
.
Not a lot OS today - made potato salad and coleslaw to go with my yummy home made pies......had corn cobs with it and it was delish.
Off with a friend to a maize maze tomorrow - should be good fun - if I don't post by the weekend then someone come find me!
Wonderful news about your stairlift PP bet you're made up."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hiya everyone
P-P...those stairlifts are great. My parents have one and their stairs go round a corner. However, me and my sis (being the terrible kids we are) always say the same thing when mum is on the stair lift..
(said in sing-song advert type voice-over) "Stannah stairlifts....so slow you've wet yourself by the time you've got to the top" It's probably from Little Britain or some such prog. Aren't we terrible, but mum can't do anything about it as she's always half way up or down stairsShe always laughs anyway.
Anyway, not too OS today. Going away tomorrow so have been packing etc today. Been eating up everything or blanching whatever veg we had left. Going to make sarnies in a mo to use up the HM bread, eggs and ham from fridge. We're staying with friends in Kent tomorrow night so may post form there. Then on Friday it's my birthday (yippee) so I expect to be waited on hand and foot (I won't hold my breath) then we catch the shuttle at about 5pm so I'll be driving most of Friday evening. Then 1 week in a luxury villa in the south of france (Very money saving tho' - going with our friends in same car so travel costs split, she got discount on villa too as well as cheapy shuttle crossing.
Everything split 1/2 and 1/2 and a girly to chat too/drink with as well. Heaven
OK, off to finish highlighting my hair. Then I must get on with the dreaded waxing and painting of toe nails. Then again, the pedicure can wait - I'm having a very nice glass of red and feeling slightly...erm....happy ?
If I don't post again for 10 days or so, have a nice time everyone and hope those of you who are ill are OK. ((((hugs)))) to P-P and moggins especially. When I get back it's all systems go for the Blackpool meet.
Bye
