Hi George, I'd say a wii is fun, but much better to be out doing things with real people (and with a wii there's the danger that you get hooked on sitting down games and move even less).
It's a shame your cousin stopped doing tennis, could you join a club or go with someone else? The main thing is that you move as much as you can, whether it's swimming, walking, tennis, or whatever.
My kids love going to the junior gym sessions, some of their friends don't, try to work out what sort of things you enjoy and you're halfway there.
Can you ask your parents or an older relative for advice and support?

I am just cooking dinner now so won't eat for 20mins or so, am i eating too late? I think i might be.
I dieted last year (though only stuck at it for a month then!) and always ate earlier to OH and think that helped more.
My meal times are all over the place cos of my changing shift patterns, some days I end up having my breakfast at 6pm, and eating my dinner at 7 am!

Hi everyone
Haven't been on for a while as been off work and had people to stay. Lots of eating going on. But back to work today and hopefully a bit more sensible eating. KPC had a week-end like yours except we had Cluedo instead of Scrabble.;)
Well done to missyg, starlight and raphael - good losses and a big well done. :j :j :j
Bails I really admire the road you are going down with your eating and not thinking of foods as 'good' or 'bad'. Have you read Susie Orbach 'on eating'. Small book but brilliant advice about listening to your body and learning to adjust to hunger signals. The sort of book you can really dip into.
Trouble is I find it hard not to pop on the scales to 'just take a look'. But I do wonder why I want to eat 'forbidden foods' the minute I start a diet. Possibly even things I haven't wanted before.
I really hope you don't stop posting as I would love to know how you get on and I really hope it works for you. Will you get rid of your scales?

Hi all I lost 1lb this week, only 5lbs lost so far (4 weeks in), but good for me as I'm a rubbish dieter (any ideas anyone?), and having to sit and study a lot at the moment.
Starlight, Missyg, and Raphael, WELL DONE:smileyhea as someone who really can't stick ot a diet, I'm awestruck
Bails, I love the idea, but know from experience that it doesn't work for me, perfect if it does for you, oh to be free from scales and calories!!
George, sounds as if you're pretty active, and just need to chill and enjoy life, at your age diets should be reserved for those with serious weight problems (where the doctor says it's putting health at risk). Would visiting your doctor (with mum), for a health check and advice/reassurance about your weight, be an idea? 12 year old boys have a LOT of growing tall to do!!!Anytime;)0 -

Thanks Suzy-Qu, I'll have a look at that book too. Yes, the scales have gone, up in the loft out of the way. The key to your cravings is in exactly what you wrote - 'forbidden foods'. I have exactly the same problem, as soon as something is off limits I want it all the time!
George, I agree with Jay11, you seem very active so perhaps a checkup at the docs will help reassure you.
Well done on the fab losses so far this week peeps! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Bails: Thats a good plan. Its funny, cos i semi think my body is probably happy as it is now, since ive been apart of this thread ive lost a lb and never put on. Over 3 months now. I know i havent properly properly tried to lose weight because of me focussing on the final stages of uni, but remaining consistent is probably an indicator that its ok. Hope you stay on the forum!
Oh and i apologise for saying "gay" its a word that was used heavily when i was back in high school and no matter what i do i still cant get it out of my vocab. Its as natural to me as weeing!
My mummy has always been biggish, she did have something wrong with her when she was my age and she only weighed 6 stone something, whatever she did she couldnt put any weight on. She said she totally hated it at the time, and perhaps thats why shes a !!!!!! now, because she has the confidence in knowing she looks good at a size 18. (perhaps!)
hope all is well!0 -

bails absolutely in awe of you, when reading yor post my own stomach sank (and it is not me that is doing it!) at the thought of not getting weighed once a week (my life line) not restricting 'bad foods' or even banning them completely as I do often, listening to inner hunger, your own body (that would be me eating ever day all day:rotfl: :rotfl: ) I think you are very honest, brave, taking a lot on, much more so than I ever could, I have been more lenient with myself but I do know I still have to keep a tight grip on me or else I am off...gorging:rotfl: :rotfl: the counselling must be working very well for you and I am very pleased it has the desired effect on you, your life and the way you see things now. I feel honoured to have known on this thread a person like you that is so eloquent, open, helpful, sincere, so willing to look and find the answers, you really do some hard stuff on yourself, some of which I have listened, heard, copied and done myself but some that no matter how I can see it really is the best thing to do and the best approach I have been unable to follow because I unlike yourself have not got the inner strength to make it work.
You have whether you know it or not changed my way of thinking, influenced my life, made it easier for me to be this weight, this size, less hungry, less punished, you and your advice have been invaluable , a whole new way of looking at food/diets/intake/bad foods/good foods/fats/calories, the whole shebang and from me I thank you and hope it works out for you the way you want it to and please do not ever go anywhere.0
