Lose Weight 19

I was 12 also efrieze when my mum put me on a diet (went to UK to stay with grandparents and they just fed me junk all summer) when my mother saw me that was the end of eating as we know it:D
I am much older than that now and still fighting the flab;)
My kids are 14 and 8 and I have along with their schools instilled in them what is good to eat, what is bad, what gains weight, they are very up there with what makes the body happy and what makes it suffer in the short term and long term health wise etc, they are happy to eat what I give them but like all teenagers young kids they like choc, sweets, macdonals etc and have that but not often and as a huge treat rather than the norm, that way they get to appreciate it.
They have watched my struggle and now the way to eat.0 -
My Mum doesn't like the weight I am now, she would rather I was a bit overweight, but she would have a massive freakout if I went a similar amount underweight
My son is 9, he is extremely active and well clued up about a balanced diet. I don't make any issues about food, I provide good meals and let him snack on whatever he wants. If anything he's slightly under average weight but he eats LOADS! We have a full range of snacks in the house, he helps himself and nothing is off limits. He knows that as long as he is active and eating nutritious food, then it's fine to have chocolate as well, but he's just as likely to snack on salad as he is on biscuits.
As for my own example to him, I've explained I need to watch what I eat, but I don't go banging on about calories and stuff to him - I come on here for thatI also never say "I can't have that" about food, I would say something like "I will save that for later." He doesn't need to know about the structure I impose on myself or that I stress about it sometimes, I'm just happy he's getting the basics right. Really hope that continues.

Well, here it is, drum roll please...
I have lost 5.25lb this week :rotfl:
That is completely insane and I have never lost that amount in a week, so it proves that the holiday gain wasn't all 'proper' gain or it wouldn't have come off that quick! I'll take credit for part of it though because I put a lot of effort in last week
I'm pleased I'm back under my boundary now and I feel a lot better. Normal service has been resumed
(Also good result on my financial challenge - £2k extra banked now!)0 -
I've had a bit of a disastrous weekend  everyone has had a nasty cold (me included) and we ended up having chinese on Saturday night !!!!
Was better yesterday (Sunday) and we had a roast and I didn't put as much on my plate as I usually do. Also didn't have dessert (which we usually have) so hopefully i've counteracted the chinese !
Been good today too so hopefully my sins will be forgiven ! lol
I've got a pretty bad weekend coming up too as my in-laws are coming to stay and MIL tends to bring lots of cake/goodies with her . Not a great start to my first couple of weeks eh?:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -

there is always this insane pressure to conform
I am a gay for caring about something so meaningless, but we live in a world where youre based on what you look like.
You're totally right Vix, there is a huge pressure to conform, hence the billion pound beauty and WL industries, and it is truly INSANE.
You're not 'gay' (I love your turn of phrase:D) because you care about it, it's just an exceptionally good marketing campaign that plays on insecurities and a ridiculous societal pressure. We do live in a world where you can judged on what you look like, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY.
Which I guess would be a good time to tell you what I'm now doing. I've decided to stop weighing and measuring altogether. This may send shivers of dread up many people's spines (and is a real leap of faith for me too) but I feel it's really important. As most of you know, I've struggled with food since as long as I can remember and I've come a long way in healing myself, with the help of a fantastic counsellor. I no longer know the calorie or point content of foods, and work hard not to think of a piece of food as 'good' or 'bad' in terms of calories/fat. Without wishing to sound preachy, I am grateful for the choice, availability and abundance of food I have (I have friends starving in Zimbabwe so this is particularly pertinent). I am working on eating intuitively ie really engaging with my body and listening to what it needs. And sometimes that really is a piece of lemon drizzle cake! And that's completely okay. I feel this is the right way for me, for several reasons: my body is 'broken' and needs fixing; I want my self-worth to come from who I am and not a number on a scale (which doesn't work anyway) and I want to be a positive role model for my future family.
So I won't be weighing in any more, although I do hope I'll stick around. I fully expect to put on weight initially as I panic about the loss of 'security' of the daily WI etc (although I won't know about it as I won't be weighing) but hope that over time my body will find a balance that it is happy with.
I wanted to share this with you as I consider lots of you to be my friends, and even if we aren't choosing to follow the same path, that's still important to me. I wish you all every success with however you are choosing to tackle what is a difficult situation xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Really pleased for you Missy :T Now that in my book is maintaining.
I'm glad you got the book Efrieze, I'd love to know what you think. Some of it wasn't relevant to me but the overriding message really hit home for me.The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
