Happy belated birthday Pet! Sorry I haven't been on-line but I have been down with THE COLD 2008 (tm) which meant that I spent not only Pet's birthday on Thursday in bed but my own birthday on Friday was spent feeling miserable and going through a deciduous rain forest in tissues!

I'll typically do 400 curls or so as part of my overall workout, that's about 10 minutes worth on an average pace (I do them in time with my lateral thigh trainer, so that does the counting, not me!) Like everything though, I'd recommend go at your own pace and build up steadily :) (Also start with lighter weights and work up).

As well as the basic curls I do lots of variations, such as holding the weights out to the sides, or out in front with straight arms for as long as I can, overhead presses, 'backwards' curls (like the normal ones but with your wrists facing the opposite way), rowing type exercises - once you've been doing it a while you can sort of feel where the muscles are working and I just make exercises up or do variations on the same theme if I can feel them working.

I could scan the suggestion sheet that came with my dumbells if it might help? Or you can probably google for dumbell exercises.

Jay11, hello, welcome! Just chime in, nobody needs to ask permission to join :D

Dragon happy belated birthday! Sorry you were poorly, you'll just have to celebrate it again properly when your cold is better :p
