I 'm embarrassed at even thinking on how long I've been posting on the LW threads before I've taken a good look at some of the other threads and saved myself a serious amount of money. I admit that I've posted on one or two other places before but found them to be quite cliquy and not really interested in welcoming newbies. That's what I love about this thread, you guys are all so welcoming to new posters. ....... It might take us a bit of time to get responses out to new people but we get there in the end. And now that I think on it... I joined at LW 8 or 9. I think that the only original members left are suggs and petrichor ... am I right? Does anyone else remember cheekymole and honey28 (I know that she's expecting an addition to the family now).. I'm so disappointed that we've lost track of Lois Lane though. I've tried e-mailing her a few times and she's disappeared off facebook.....
I agree with you about other threads Delly, I now just use any advice given there and just thank any post that's helpful to me. I first posted on LW 7th Jan 2007, I think Victory pipped me by a few days. I know consultant31 is a regular (or was) on the SW support thread, and like you I wonder what has happened to Lois, I hope she's okay as she had a holiday in Las Vegas planned for sometime soon, and the last I heard from her, she seemed to be having some problems. Cheekymole was before my time, but Honey said she'd be back with us after the birth, I hope everything is okay with her too...
...Lovely to have you back with us Dragon, one bright thing to look at is that if your jeans are falling down then things may not be as bad weightwise as you thinkI hope you can get some relief from the pain :grouphug: ...
...I've earned quite a bit in 2 months by finally using the info found elsewhere. I'd read about Quidco etc but never done anything about it, and now I could kick myself. I had tracking problems with Quidco re the L&G ISA, so I cancelled it and reapplied via Cashbackkings where it tracked within minutes, it's the quickest I've earned £110. I'm going to open another one as it's now the new tax year. Easy money and a good return even if you don't put any more in than the minimum. I've woken up to the fact that what little dosh I've got was idling in old accounts, now I'm getting cash back just to be more savvy, and being paid to open new bank accounts :j . Next I'm going to look at switching gas/electricity, but I'm a bit nervous about it. Has anyone here done it and had any problems? I've read in the press of people being charged twice, and knowing how my luck runs that'll end up happening to me...
...Well, I know it's not LW stuff, but while I'm doing this I totally forget about food :T...
...Have a lovely day peeps, it's gloriously sunny here. SYL
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

It's snowing , it's snoooooooowwwwwwiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnngggggggg in April:j :j :j :j :j
I agree about using the rest of the threads, I must use the Mortgage ones and how to buy a house more effectively so that it saves us money as it will be too tight to mention:rolleyes: there is some fantastic info on this site, I DO often just read though and not post, just gather the info and move onto another thread but I always post on this one and MTC's does anyone want to loose weight thread, they are the main 2 ones that I go to in the mornings and the rest now will be money saving ones;)
Off into town if H ever gets up to buy a printer, last one eats the paper:rotfl: have a lovely snow day:D0 -
I'm sure money talk is allowed Pet, it is MSE after all
I've changed my gas and electricity several times with no trouble - due to do it again this week. I'm also going through my parents and the in-laws' finances to try and stop them wasting so much cash!
As for other threads, my regular haunts are here and the 4k, the GC and sometimes the Simplify thread although not as much as I should! I dip in and out of other places but it's too much to keep up with it all. Next week I'm going to try and stay more away from the forums (unless I have a question) and focus on the info side of the site.
Nice one on making your money work for you Pet, it's such a great feeling seeing how far your money will stretch! I was saying the other day on 4K, when I was on £30K+ it was shocking how I wasted my money; I much prefer the life I have now even if I officially live below the poverty lineHave a great day everyone xx

Two hours of snowball fights and snowmen before breakfast - happy, happy day!!!0

oooooh, thick snow here in Brighton. Mr BB off in Ashdown Forest doing conservation work :A . Got far too excited yesterday by a visit to B&Q where I found kitchen cabinet wire baskets for half the price I have found anywhere on the internet - trying to make the house as friendly to my arthritis as poss and backs of cabinets have become inaccessble black holes. Also bought a £40 food mixer at argos with sainsbury's nectar points:j . So must try it out today by making a cake:D . Just had a nice suprise - my lodgers boyfriend who has been staying with us rent/bills free for 7 months while looking or a job and just told me he wants to decorate my (very scruffy) hall for free as a thankyou, now he has got a job.:j
Dragon - heart felt hugs re the pain and the weight gain from the steroids - unbelievable amount of weight gain in 2 weeks(but I do believe you!!). So utterly unfair.
Ajax - commiserations on the football. Wendy and Kymrob - it's so great to hear how well you are doing with the weight loss and how you feel this forum is helping. I think the secret, when you hit target, to this time sucessfully maintaining will be sticking with us here - it does make such a difference becasue it is a whole new journey that is a constant learning curve that I find benefits from advice and support too.
Off to watch my recorded Dr who now:smileyhea.
Oh and I'm on a roll today, just had my un m-in-l on the phone to thank me for helping sort some of OH problems out (can't find a fainting smiley:D )I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
ooooh, i just watched the doctor and it was fab! catherine tate was much better than i expected.
dragon, how awful for you! I do admire you chaps who can keep going despite these very large obstacles. I'd just sit down and use it as an excuse not to care and secretly hate myself for the state i would inevitably end up in. Having a very bad day. OH has been grumpy and out of sorts for a week. He finally confessed this morning that the kids thing is not out of his system. I am so gutted and frustrated because there is NOTHING i can do. I told him from day one that I have never wanted children, but he seems to be having a midlife crisis. I've kind of 'accepted' in my heart that he is going to leave, but this is something that I just can't compromise on. Am i awful for being such a practical soul and checking my finances and stuff? The lure of the biscuit tin has neve been so strong right now, so I'm off to holland and barrett to buy some of Wendy's vinegar tablets - that should distract me.0 -
FFM, I would gain at 2000/day for sure. According to the link KPC posted a few days ago, the average woman is now a size 16? I've no doubt I'm also shorter than average, as well as smaller so it stands to reason 2000 will be too many. I'm expecting around a 1450/day average for this week and based on previous results, that could either be a loss or a gain!
Pls don't be gutted about the 1.2lb gain, you're still maintaining brilliantly.
Next time you get asked about someone's weight what about just batting it straight back to them with another question? E.g. "Everyone's different, what weight are you happiest at?" etc.
Petrichor, the arm muscles on your man there! Blimey. I have switched enegy suppliers twice. The first one went smoothly and the second one didn't. I ended up being overcharged as the one I was leaving ignored my final readings and did a hefty "estimate", got sent from pillar to post, it's sorted now but it was a big pain in the backside and I'm staying put for a while now.
Oh no Dragon,for you
So frustrating.
I do read a lot around the forum in general but this thread and the declutter one are where I post the most (even tho I've lost the weight and done the decluttering...:o) I thought I was always good with money but MSE has really helped me go the extra mile and gain more freedom.0 -
KPC of course you're not awful! You can't do something as major as have a kid to please someone else no matter how much you love that person. I can see your OH's side a bit too, obviously he has started to change his mind about kids over time and that could have happened to either of you
I'm sure this isn't an uncommon issue in a relationship and I'm sure there are lots of people who have managed to get it sorted - I hope you two do.
