Lose Weight 19

Sorry I haven't been around for a while - I have been reading the messages and cheering people on whilst sitting here sobbing!
The pain kicked in full time again and I was put back on the steroids and in 7 flipping days I had piled on 2 stone in weight! I have lost some of it but it looks like I am starting over again (lots of low cal soups like home made onion this week for a miffed off Dragon!)
On the other hand my jeans are falling down :huh:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

I agree with Bails, Dragon - you are an absolute star for keeping going through the pain and everything!:A :staradmin
You're also one hell of an inspiration to those of us with nothing more than lack of willpower holding them back!:o
You go girl!!:j0 -

The thing is, she said she had put on about 3/4 stone and needed to lose the weight, how could I turn round and say, 'yes, you are looking a bit plump, it would be a good idea' :rotfl: So I just said, 'no, you look fine as you are'. If I had said she needed to lose weight she would probably had thought 'what a b...ch', whereas at least what I said would not have hurt her feelings.
What I'm trying to say is that maybe not everyone is out to sabotage your efforts, they may just be trying to be diplomatic.
ffm - it is possible to be encouraging, honest and diplomatic if someone you know has lost weight but still needs to lose a little more. I think saying something along the lines of ...have you lost weight? You look fantastic and you must feel so much better (allowing for the fact that their weight loss has been deliberate and not due to an illness) .... finish off the compliment with "keep up the good work!"...... That way you can acknolwedge their effort in losing the weight without insulting them - they can take it two ways, as in good luck in losing any more weight you want to lose, or well done losing, keep up the good work in keeping it off....... Hope this makes sense as DS keeps interuppting me and I'm breaking in my mil's laptop. (oh is desperate for me to get a laptop of my own, but I'd want one that 's super light and thin and terribly expensive).
Hope someone on here did well in the grand national today. I think I'll stop betting on the horses. I took a tip off another thread and one of the poor horses died. The two that I drew in the work sweeps were complete donkeys and got no-where. I can't even find out where they were placed ... they probably both fell at the first fence - same old story where the grand national and I are concerned. It's just as well that my bets were with betfair through quidco and I haven't lost any real money!
AJAX maybe you can advise me what I can do with the £25 free bet I get on betfair today. I'd like to put it to some good use.
It's nice to see the thread busy at the weekend and evenings for a change. I'm at work monday to friday and only ever about at the weekends and evenings.
Hmm, quite liking this laptop thingy... I might be persuaded if we can get our quidco earnings up a bit and get other people to pay for it.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
dragon whatever I say the pain will not go away but hang in there, you are a very strong person but I know personally my arthritic pain brings me down but don't let it crumble you;)
bails which threads are you going to go into? Buying a house I have gone off often to the MFW threads, buying houses etc they are so informative and if they save me money in the process bonus, plus I have often been in the old fashioned money saving threads cooking from scratch, ideas on how to save money, it is all good, well into it:D0 -
Goodness, it seems that some of us can be a bit one track minded about this forum. I 'm embarrassed at even thinking on how long I've been posting on the LW threads before I've taken a good look at some of the other threads and saved myself a serious amount of money. I admit that I've posted on one or two other places before but found them to be quite cliquy and not really interested in welcoming newbies. That's what I love about this thread, you guys are all so welcoming to new posters. ....... It might take us a bit of time to get responses out to new people but we get there in the end. And now that I think on it... I joined at LW 8 or 9. I think that the only original members left are suggs and petrichor ... am I right? Does anyone else remember cheekymole and honey28 (I know that she's expecting an addition to the family now).. I'm so disappointed that we've lost track of Lois Lane though. I've tried e-mailing her a few times and she's disappeared off facebook....
Lois - if you're out there and reading this, We miss you, please let us know that you're ok!
dragon I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with the pain and weight. There's not much that I can add to help you feel better. Just know that we're all here for you if you need anything.
victory - I had forgotten that you suffer with arthritic pain too, you mention it so little. Hope you're ok too.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
hi folks,
feel better soon all of you who are feeling not at your best for one reason or another, im sorry your having such difficulties.
im not having a good night in the kitchen tonight. decided to stick the breakmaker on, thought it sounded a bit off then remembered i hadnt put the needing thingy on. its on now but bob knows if i will be able to get it off later given that its got bread gunk under it lol.
then decided start to make tomato soup so i dont eat rubbish tomorrow evening. took my jar of passata out of the fridge, its been open a while but it smelled and tasted and looked ok so chucked it in. then discovered that there was mould on the lid :S am i going to poison myself if i go ahead and make my soup (slow cooker)?0 -

Hmm... not sure I would carry on using it.
When we were young if there was mould on the jam you would spoon off the mould and continue from that point downwards into the jar.
If there was mould on cheese you would cut if off and then carry on using it.
However, nowadays advice tends to be to throw the item out as the 'mould' will have spread through the rest of the item.
Yet, I'm still alive after many mouldy jams and cheeses :j

Found this site this morning: http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle.aspx?id=104720&catId=100228&tid=100008&p=4&title=Food+poisoning It really does seem to suggest you should through it out - shame, but probably not worth the risk.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -
Do you have no heart??? Alphonse has feelings too you know!!! :rotfl: I've told him that Uncle Ajax was only joking, but he's having none of it and is refusing to come here with me today. So now I've had to recruit Rafa (in honour of him reaching the Miami Masters final:j ) ...
...apologies to Alphonse, hello Rafa. A good weekend for sporting hotties then - 'my' Rebecca Hudson and her mate are leading the VCI European cup for England.
Tell Alphonse he's safe, I mean no harm
Wendy, KPC is far too nice to mut me on yoggy sanctions. Good that you're enjoying the board so much.
Delly I presume that free bet you got can be laid as well as bet? If so it sounds ripe for a bit of matched betting to meI'd sign up for a bookie through Quidco and matched bet it - last time I looked at Quidco Paddy POwer and Coral had good sign-up cashback.
