Csarina....what lovely quilts, I had a nosy at all the pictures...think that my limitations in that regard would be that I am not neat enough to do one that looked really good so have never tried at all...is that cowardice I wonder...find knitting and crochet so much easier...have made basic covers from squares (biggish ones!) but not prepared to try anything 'fiddly'.

Glad to hear that so many of you are near Edinburgh....going to a wedding somewhere in that region on 10th January '09 so when I find out exactly where I will be looking for hotel advice please!

Sleep well all and happy Mother's Day to those who fit the category...will not be around early to-morrow

Can I ask the Expert Churchie about crochet  I've taken it up for Lent (pic of one of my first pieces on thriftlady's Lent thread). I'm having trouble with tension (on my crochet, not in myself ;):D ). DH has described the square I'm working on atm as "lopsided" Any tips on how to keep tension constant?

Hi PenPen:D A sensible answer;) Not very helpful I'm afraid, I'm self-taught on crochet, and apparently I hold the hook and yarn completely wrongly:rolleyes: I found out there are a few of us spread across the board that do!! You see, it's all in the fingers, and how you hold the yarn. I have the yarn exactly how I knit, and find my tension fine. I can't hold the yarn for crochet the way the tutorials tell you to:o Perhaps DG will be along in the morning and be able to offer some practical help. I do think it improves with practice. Remember back to when you first knitted, wasn't perfect was it?:D :D Good luck, CM xx

Just remembered! In the interests of total honesty, don't work the cockerel dishcloth too hard, I'm pretty sure I joined new yarn in the middle of a row:rotfl: :rotfl: But I did weave in the ends, not just tied them on:o

Damn wanted to wish everyone a Happy St Davids Day - just missed it, Mrs B and I went for a nice ride out this afternoon down to Ludlow and across the Clee hill and back through Bridgnorth then home to telford was a lovely ride out, Mrs B works at Poundland and doesnt see light of day much LOL, she enjoyed it. Ate some choccy on clee hill and took some nice pics and sun did actually shine a bit!!
Pinched some of DD veggie Pizza from Dominos for tea and just sunk a tin of sweetcorn, its nice if you crave something sweet - better than more chocs - Mrs B is just starting to do some callanetics, some strange moves but apparently you can lose inches and weight by doing it. Nite all !!
