    Afternoon all,

Happy Saint David's Day to all Taffies!...Can roughly find my way around Scots Gaelic, but cannot make head or tail of Welsh so forgive my use of English!

Smoky....you are always in my thoughts and prayers...as someone else said please call if there is anything at all we can do to help.

Churchmouse...you mean that you have never heard of Dustin, Ireland's most famous turkey???

Cold and misty here to-day so nothing being done outside, pizza for dinner whenever I get round to knocking back the dough and getting toppings organised.

Have a good evening all...hope that your meeting we OH went well Redruby...you and DD come first and are the most important.

Hugs to all who are in need or want to-day....Aussie, am just getting over a cold so will pass on the hug if you don't mind, warm wishes for your speedy recovery

  • Hi all,
Still quite new to this website and all the forums, but have to report that since following the flylady thread, this is the first chilled out Saturday I have had in a long time. Went to the market first thing this morning, having taken ds2 swimming and got all my eggs, cheese fruit and veg for the week. DH turned up with a slow cooker so I am experimenting with that this evening. I am hoping that a veg curry will come out at some point, but I think slow really does mean slow!!All washing done, BM has done its terrific job, and have made a veg chilli and lasagne for freezing. DH has vacuumed through the house and I am now planked on botty watching Frasier. What a great site!!!
Have a good weekend e veryone

    ((((smokey))))

Put the ingredients for pea and ham soup in the slow cooker this morning and then managed a one armed shampoo and shower with a plastic bag over the injured arm.

DH drove me to the walk in centre in Selby to get dressings changed and we were seen really quickly. Looks as if my arm is healing well but I can't wait to feel normal again.

Just tried some of the soup and it turned out really well - even DH is impressed. I added some shredded cabbage and leek and it has made a difference. Made a sandwich with a slice of the gammon to go with the soup.

DDs say they plan to do some cooking for me tomorrow as it is Mothers day and DH and DD cleaned the bathroom for me this morning as I am not supposed to get the bandages wet.

Two loads of washing have been hung out on the line outside and just about to get some more soup.

The best use for a slow cooker is to put it on in the morning and then come home to a home cooked meal. I put it on overnight to cook joints which I have found very successfull.

Hope this helps (you can't watch a slow cooker it is worse than watching paint dry!).

Hey, noticed yesterday you are in the same vicinity as me. (I am East Lothian). What was that weather like yesterday up here. If it wasn't for the wind today it would have been great! At least washing dried.

Hi Grannybroon, my folks live in Dunbar, I love East Lothian and grew up on a farm in the Lammermuirs. Where are you?

Had a nice day today, went for breakfast with OH and LO then spent the afternoon reading a book. Was meant to be cooking lots of lovely stuff to go in the freezer but it didn't happen:o . LO is at the stage where she can entertain herself for quite a while by just fiddling about and I love watching her. Toddlers are funnier than the tv......when their not driving you mental .

Trying to master my new morphy richards breadmaker, don't think I like it much. I had a panasonic before and it was much more forgiving of my slapdash measurements. Does anyone know if you can make chutney on the jam setting of a morphy richards?

Smokeybabe, so sorry that your news isn't better, you're in my thoughts and prayers.

    Have a nice evening everyone.

Ballencrieff Pig lovely but not very OS I am afraid! Fine for a really, really special occasion. Must admit I have only bought once but while really nice can't afford it.

edited to add, my cultural upbringing has obviously been sorely lacking, meanmarie :rotfl: :rotfl:

edited again, no news yet, Haribo. Hoping to speak to him later, just don't want to bring them down if they've managed to put it out of their minds for a bit.
